im new and so is my project truck
well im 17 and this is my 1st post on this board...i am restoreing a truck for my senior project and graduation presnt(parents and grandparents givein me money to help fund it).. i have till spring(graduation) to get all this done..and i will post pics when i can get my moma to take them(im not to good with the digital camera)
I bought a 1969 chevy C10 its a long bed..for now. it runs and drives fine but its 3 on the tree and a inline 6....im geting ready to build a 383 straoker in school for her and im puting a turbo 400 transmission behind that and a 12 bolt main..thinking of puting 3.42 posi just so i can get a little bit of fuel milage.....and the thing yall will think im crazyest for....im cuting the frame and makeing it a short bed...but not any short bed it will be a 88-98 chevy step side bed and i was wondering what yall thought of those beds on these trucks as far as the 383 straoker EDLEBROCK aluminum consit of: Heads, Intake, Valve Covers, Carb, air filter....yes im building the motor from the block up nothing old being used... i also plan to run a 15x8ish wheal in the frunt and a 17x10 wheal in the back...also thinking about runing laker pipes like on the old stingray vets...well i think there called laker pipes |

Welcome to the board.
Sounds like a nice truck. There is a FAQ on shortening the frame, quite a few have done it so you will have some help if you have questions. A few people have also done the newer style step bed. If you can find a way to make the front and rear wheel wells the same it will help pull it all together. No matter what you do it will be a nice truck I am sure!

Cool Plan!!! Should be a great truck. Be sure and post lots of pictures!!!
My advise would be; Learn how to use that digital camera!!! If you have questions about the restore the fellas here can help tons more if they can see what your problem is...

randy im just north of ronoake in botetourt...
i have a ace in the hole at my uncles theres 3 "grauges" in his back yard one has a pit in it and a I beam(for pulling and droping motors in) and all that good stuff.. one is a place where he builds motors and stores his drag car(nova with 396 hydrastatic 2 speed) and ones his paint booth..he has stretched a truck 5 foot to make a car hauler and then welded up his own drive shaft...and my ag teacher is going to be the one that cuts the frame down mainly because hes dont it befor and i dont wanna bother my uncle to much because he still needs to make a liveing..for 800 bucks i got a truck that runs and drives and for what im sueing of it it only needs rocker panels and the gas cap welded up ...when im puting the frunt disk breaks on it and getin the motor/trany togethern it will be sitin then while its at my uncles just take it on over and do the lil body work and paint it then drop in the motor and trany the rear end will be easy to get sence my uncle has about 3 12 bolt mains hes not useing.....time will be tight but its all about how hard u want to do something..... i might be in over my head but hell its not that much work and sence all the fundings been takein care of i got after school and weekends to work on it...between me saveing my parents and grandparents its all payed for from motor to paint.. |

I am 16 and Im building a truck just like that during highschool. A 72 C-10 long bed with a 355, turbo 400 and a 12 bolt 3.42. I also plan to get my truck done this spring. Its nice to that there are people my age that are into these old trucks and not ricers, i thought i was the only one. Good luck on your truck.
