Replacing heat & air controls
Has anyone pulled out and reinstalled their heat and air control in their truck? I have taken out the screws and unhooked and marked all wires but do not want to try to disconnect the rest until I know or have an idea of what to do the right way. Can anyone help on this? How does this come out? What do I do now to get it out. This is on my '86. Thanks

Are you talking about the complete A/C unit under the dash?

I usually just pull everything out all hooked together.

What about all the air lines? Do they just pull off and don't you need to mark them so they go back on the right place? I do not really know what you mean by "pull everthing out all hooked together".

OK, I got it. First you have to take the bazel off then the four screws holding the heat and air control out. Next you pull the wires off of the back and as you pull each one off I put tape around it and put where it goes then go to the next till I have all wires off. Then I turned the control over and on the bottom side there are two screws holding the vacum lines on. Take them out and the lines comes right off. Next I pulled the little clip off of the cabel on the cold-hot line and the red part you have to turn over and there is a clip you have to push in order to drop down the red section of the cabel. Now the heat and air control is off. I will just put back on in reverse order.
