Brake Booster parts missing? lookie here?
Hey there gang,
when I was refurbishing the brake booster, I took off the rear boot and this packing fell out, along with a star washer. Looking into the rear end of the booster, I can not tell how the packing and star washer are used. Am I missing some parts? Thanks ahead of time

Is this a new booster or the old one? The star washer should be a retainer for the felt washer. but if you look close in the pic the booster looks to have one allready, or should go on top of that one

The same thing happend to me when I was cleaning up an old booster to paint. I re-installed the felt, put the star washer on top and sild a new boot over it. then I secured it with a zip-tie. It worked when I put it back on the truck. I'm not sure what holds that star washer in there other than vacuum.

Where can I get a new boot like that? Old ones get real rotten.

I stole that rubber boot from a 91 Buick hydro-boost setup. If you hunt the yards they can be found.

I bought one from Scott's Super Trucks so most vendors should carry them.

I'm guessing that it keeps dust & crud out of the vacuum chamber.... maybe they are called "Dust-boots" for that reason.

You'll have an open hole in the firewall, make it harder to cool and heat, plus let more fumes in. Good luck and keep on truckin'............Jerry

but look at the star washer.........
See the picture with the star washer laying next to the new and old boots?
I can not figure out what IT could be used for. Why would it be a star washer and not just a simple flat washer if it did not have a special purpose? The problem was when I took off the boot and removed the round fiber pad, the foam and washer fell out in my hands! I'm not sure what the replacement structure should look like, not to mention why there was a star washer in there? Any thoughts related to the TOPIC?
