Anyone Know How Many of These trucks Were Made - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was checking out the VIN decoder and it says the last six digits are the serial number. My last six digits are 827148. Did they make over 827,000 of these trucks in 1969? That seems like a large number to me. Especially for back then.

Is it possible the seventh digit means something and the remaining are the serial number?

My VIN is CS149A827148
C = 2WD
S = 6 Cylinder
1 = 1/2 ton
4 = truck with bed
9 = 1969
A = built in Atlanta
remaining numbers are supposed to be the vehicle serial number

for some reason, chevy started with truck #1 VIN'd at 100,000.
NFC as to why... and 727148 is unreal...esp since that would be that number for THAT PLANT... not all assembly plants combined.
This IS a chevy and not a GMC, right?

Longhorn Man, the tag receipt I got with it said Chev. So, now my California title says Chev. It had a 69 grill, 72 front bumper and a 67 fleetside bed on it when I got it...so, there really is no telling.

I checked the frame and it is stamped 9A827148.

Any ideas? Also I remember a thread not too long ago about the "DD" under the VIN number. Do you recall what that meant?

I don't remember what the DD stood for...and yes, the GMC vins are not the same as Chevy...some are close, some are way off, and they chainged the way the GMC vins were done from time to time in the 67 - 72 trucks.

ive heard and read they produced around 3 million between 67-72

DD means delivery date. One more piece of knowledge for the masses. But what do i know. And I was the one that answered that before also. I gotta keep some stuff to myself....for entertainment purposes at least.
Do I like to see wrong answers turn into internet folklore...not really.
