adjustable pan hand bar 4 drop?

Just like the title. Do I need a adjustable pan hand bar with 4" drop springs in the rear?

Thanks
Jeremy

Re: adjustable pan hand bar 4 drop?

An adjustable one would be nice but not necessary.

No, but if you go any lower you will. Anything over 4" and it is necessary or your rear end starts shifting over.

Re: adjustable pan hand bar 4 drop?

It may depend on your rear tire/wheel package too. On my stepside I only have 11" of width available and will be using 275/60/15s on custom offset rims (steel 8" Corvette style rallys) the rear. I will need to keep the axle centered sinse there is very little room for any sideways movement during it's up/down travel. I think you have more room on a Fleetside but not sure.

Re: adjustable pan hand bar 4 drop?

I spoke to ECE about a drop on my truck last summer. They recommend the adjustable panhard bar for a 4" rear drop.

Quote:
When lowering the rear of a C-10 Truck, certain geometric changes occur that need to be corrected. For the rear suspension to perform properly, we pioneered the use of an Adjustable Panhard Bar on our Project ’72, as well as relocated rear shock mounts to correct mis-aligned geometry.

With a rear drop of more than 5”, the stock panhard bar actually runs at an uphill angle to attach to the rear axle. This causes the rear end to shift to the driver’s side as the rear suspension travels downward, creating an ill-handling driving situation.

Our Original Super Track Bar Kit eliminates this problem by moving the mount from the rear axle housing over to the right side trailing arm, which lowers the bar’s mounting point and corrects the angle. It’s extended length lessens the side to side radial arc, and the adjustable end allows the rear axle to be centered between the frame rails.

Installation is a simple bolt-on arrangement, with no welding required. We use only the highest quality, NASCAR-grade D.O.M. (drawn over mandrel) seamless tubing to build all of our bars, for maximum strength and integrity. Every Early Classic Panhard Bar and Super Track Bar feature heli-arc welds, C.N.C. machined threaded spud inserts and a powder-coated finish. Each kit comes complete with all necessary hardware and instructions.
