is it 10 lug?
if a ho52 is a 5.200# and a ho72 is a 7.200# and a h110 is a 11.000 wouldnt the h110 be a 2 ton truck rear ?

If it is 10 lugs on the rear, then it is the HO110. That rear came in C40 and C50 trucks but it looks like your truck was a special order C30 with the HD suspension upgrade.

Those are split rims, if you look next to the size it says tube type.

the lock ring on that kind of rim is removable, but it's a PITA to get it off. you have to get the tire iron in the right spot and pry the ring off. i've never messed with those, but that's what it says to do in the service manual.

If you are going to mess with mounting and dismounting split rim tires, wrap a chain around the rim/tire assembly. I have heard many a story of old timers having the halves seperate and making holes in whatever they contact.

at local junk yard one of the workers there was changing a tire on a split rim and it came apart and killed the guy and put a hole in the metal roof of the building this happend about 15 years ago the owner of the yard shut the yard down after that happind

oh yea thanks for the advise anyway

In Dodge trucks, the D60 was rated at 4,500 pounds in the front. Not sure about GM.

As for 10 lug front axles, try looking for one of the late 90's 3500HD trucks. They have the little gray insert under the grille, and the bumper is farther down than the regular one tons. Those trucks also have 5 lugs up front and 10 in the rear (on 2wd's). I saw one 4x4 that was an aftermarket conversion, it had a Dana 70 front with 10 lugs. The rear axle in those is a Dana 80, iirc it also has disc brakes.

Re: What was the 11,000# axle for a C30?

The ford 60F axle in the prized Ford F250 snow fighter package was rated for 4500# IIRC, nowhere close to 6K. Now that doesn't mean it cant handle a 6K load, its just the factory did not rate it for that load.

A D70 in a front axle application is rated at 5300#, and in the rear the same axle is rated at 7400#. It is rated like that because the front end sees weight transfer during braking, which raises the weight on the front end by a great deal.

Because of the overall vehicle rating given by the manufacturer, Ford. Not the axle manufacturer. I've heard stories about why the 60's ended up there.

How do you explain the D60 in the CUCV 1.25 ton rated or in other 2 ton trucks?

What does the sticker on the door/cab say it can handle?
