Need part number

Hopefully someone can give me part number for the upper or lower control arm frames shafts. Mike (Swervin Ervin) replaced his with the front end rebuild when he went back to rubber bushings. Anybody still have those numbers and are they the same for 73-80? Santa has already started ordering parts for Christmas and I need everything I can ask for

Also should these be replaced while I'm there or should they just be checked out? If I remeber right they're $$$

I haven't replaced the control arm shafts. I haven't went back to rubber bushings yet either.

Unless your shafts are bent or messed up in some way, there is no use in changing them. Only reason would be if you needed offset shafts because of dropping.

B are you thinking of when he had a loose bolt on his control arm shafts?

Mike I thought you changed them out for the ride quality and you saw a broken bolt. I must be losing it over here. Not enough blood flowing up to the brain

Jon- You're probably right. I just remember him replacing a bolt on the front end and having to go to the dealer and get it.

Yeah, I had one of the bolts break and had to buy it from the dealer. I decided to replace all four on the upper arms.

That's what I was thinking that you replaced and was wondering if I would need to replace them. While I'm thinking about it was there anything else you bought for you front end rebuild besides the kit from Performance Suspension? I just ordered it today and I'm buying front springs as well. Other than brakes, bearings, races, hoses, and grease is there anything else you might think of that might need replaced? I was going to look at another pitman arm while I was there as well.


BTW: This is a family site so I'll stay quiet on that.

Replacing the pitman arm is a good idea.
When I went through my front end, I also replaced the upper and lower ball joints on both sides since one of the lower ball joints were shot. I also replaced the tie rod ends since they weren't that much more. I ended up replacing the centerlink, but I don't think that mounting openings on it were worn enough to really warrant replacing it.

BTW, while I was at the local auto parts store picking up a can of 'power blaster', I also borrowed few of their front suspension tools to help disassemble the front suspension components.

I didn't think about the centerlink but I will do that as well. Here's a list of what the kit has that I ordered.

He uses Moog parts on everything but the bushings which are the Energy Suspension ones. I've got the rear leaf spring set already but need to install them as well if I get a chance on the rear.

Thanks for the heads up on the power blaster. I'll try to that along with some cleaner to get all the grease off the a-arms, bolts etc. to get ready for primer and paint.

I replaced the pitman arm also. I didn't replace the center link of the tie rod. The holes never looked worn enough to warrant it.
