How do you tell if the AC expansion valve is bad? Thanks...

Try this site:
www.aircondition.com There are other links at the site, but try clicking on: " Basic air condition operation", for a description of the system in a car. I am not sure how to test the expansion valve, but it controls the flow of freon based upon temperature, so the ac will not work when it is bad. Jim |

watch your gauges. if low side is sucking into a vacuum or both low and high side pressures are high you have a bad expansion valve. i am assuning you are using gauges.
