Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

How many sets do you want?
20 plus the ride for a good pair from a 68 Chevy K20, or a 71 Chevy C20.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

It's pointing right at you... although I've been told in a PM that these are van mirrors? Strangely, they came off a 68 K20, used all the factory holes?

Thanks for the pic Grendel. I've got a set. Those look correct to me. Anybody interested in Grendel's mirrors, they're up for grabs.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

I brought up the van mirror comment. I beleive this style of mirror posted is off of newer vans or maybe even the 73+ trucks. I have seen a lot of these mirrors and trucks in NW and they had 3 types of the tripod mirrors. The small tripod ones, the medium tripod ones and the very large camper tripod ones. The small and medium have the 2 lower mounting arms closer together as well as a round tube piece that attaches at the top. The ones show have this small upper arm as a flat piece. The very large ones have longer lower arms with a flat horizontal piece between the 2 upper mounting holes.

Not great pics but should be all 3 I mentioned.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

Both my sets are identical. They also match the bone stock C20 I had. As in right from the town of San Jose and they didn't change a thing.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

A 1 ton would typically have the large camper mirrors on it just like the rad and white cheyenne in the picture above. The mirrors with the 4 screws and the internal mount are not 67-72 no matter how many trucks they have been found on.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

DaBurb is right the ones with the 4 screws are not 67-72, they came out on 73-80's. I installed alot of them on new trucks in those years.

Thumbs up Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

I like subjects like this, in addition to many other things I consider myself a mirror coniseurre (spelling??)!! Teeitup, so the mirrors on red/white cheyenne above are not stock to this year? (don't they use 2 screws one each on lower arms and 2 on the upper horizontal attachment bar?) I have seen a lot of these 3/4 ton trucks with the "camper mirrors" listed on glove box and these exact mirrors as on red/white truck on the doors. If these are not correct can anyone post a picture of the correct large camper mirrors? Not to detract from original post but a good original set for 1 ton in my opinion would be the large tripod mirrors that I contend are as shown on red/white truck.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

Bob, sorry I didn't explain myself better. The 4 screws I'm talking about are on the mirror head itself, like the ones Grendel has a pic of. Our years had a brace on mirror head with rivets and the arm attaches to the brace with a nut. Your pics are original mirrors. I think the camper style on your red and white one has 3 screws on the top bracket but not for sure. I got some mirrors out there I'll try to get some pics.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

Here is a pic of a original BIG mirror, I took it off a one ton. It attaches on top of door too. The other pic is one of the mirror head off our trucks.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

Teeitup's first mirror picture above is known as a WEST COAST MIRROR. then you have the JR West coast(no picture), "below eye-line" large tri-pod camper mirrors(red/white cheyenne), "below eye-line"medium tri-pod(blue C20 above), "below eye-line" small tri-pod (white painted mirrors pic #1 in Cheyenne10's post) and I might as well toss in the 70-72 sport mirror and the 67-70 side view mirror(what ever they are called). That should cover the list of factory mirrors from largest to smallest.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

Thanks Kevin for the info. I wasn't sure what they call the big west coast mirrors.

Re: WTB: Stainless Tripod Mirrors

The mirrors on the red and white are like mine, Option code DF2. The option code DF1 was the smaller ones like on the blue truck. These were codes for at least the '72 model year.
I am looking for a set of the large DF2 for my truck now locally. I tried the grote setup but the arms are light SS and the mirror bounces to bad when going down the road the factory arms are very heavy SS and the mirrors don't bounce at all. The heads and bottom arms are SS but the elbow is chrome plated steel, They also had plated steel acorn nuts on them.
