How much they want outa that? I can't get the page to come up. It says "service unavailable".

The 73-up tool should work on about an Dana 44. I'm not absolutely sure though. I know mine is similar to the pic roger0080 posted and it works on my 72 3/4ton.

Don't the 1970 front ends have closed knuckles while the '71-'87 have open?

If so that might be a different tool.

Re: axle nut tool??

I assume you are speaking about the four post socket tool for the spindle nuts? There are two round nuts behind the lockouts with four notches in them. O'Riellys was about 8 bucks for the tool. The other was a 6 point tool. I have both. My Blazer axle (1/2 ton)and my 3/4 ton are the same tool.

Re: axle nut tool??

nu2-72, do you know if any of those you list do in fact work on the rear 3/4T axles lock nuts???

That tool is the one I wish I had.

Re: axle nut tool??

I do not remember. I have a 14 bolt disassembled. And a 10 bolt Eaton complete. Right now I am working on the front only and cannot remember if I used the front socket on the rear. Sorry.

Re: axle nut tool??

Most of the full-floater rear axles have hex shaped nuts. They have a bend-over tab rather than the pin style locking of the round nuts. Different socket.

My Dana 60 rear had the hex nut you speak of (and my Dodge D60 front axle has the same one);

however both my 14 bolt and my Eaton H052 use the 6-prong socket, and I believe they are all this way. Lemme see if I can find a pic.

Here it is: works on both Eaton and 14 bolt FF.
edit: I don't know how much it costs though, I grabbed this one outta the dumpster at work when they were clearing house.

actually they did have some good stuff. they just sold off the old salt shaker, a '96 C3500 dump, and bought a newer GMC C6500 with a Cat 3126 and a 7 spd, stainless dump, and shaker.

soo they tossed out all the 1 ton spare stuff. complete set of wheel bearings, wheel cyl, diff cover gaskets, spare 4:10 r&p, this socket, another identical one, and also a 4 prong socket (D44?), one of the hex sockets for dana axles, plus a bunch of OTC sockets for medium truck FF axles. i grabbed the bearings and the sockets, the rest hit the trash. probably shoulda grabbed the rest, but o well.
