Angry glove box help

I have a 1984 and a 1985 chevy c10"s the 84 i got from texas this september and it is all done up with wheels tires motor and paint any way one thing that is messed up on the 84 is the glove box plastic. however my 85 DD has a perfect peice of plastic in it. However the 84 has a black interior and the 85 is tan so a complete swap is not going to happen. How do i remove the latch (or thing u turn to open the glove box)?? onecw i have the lach off it will be no problom to swich the black plastic. thanks for the help.

Also on the 84 ?How i replace the seat belts and or where could i get new ones from for a good price??? i know it is all about saftey but i really hate to spend 100+ dollars on somthing i don't even want but this truck must be safe as my little brother will be riding in it when we take it to car shows. Thanks agian

Re: glove box help

I have, but I don't remember how to remove the latch. I just messed with it for about 15 minutes, and <SPROING> it fell apart.

I read something that said you have to poke a straightened paper clip in the tiny hole in the latch, but that got me no results.

Re: glove box help

Although I've never taken one out before I did save this from another post made about this.

The hole in the front does nothing. Do not pry off the outside knob, it just bends the pot metal tabs on the knob and you still can't get the assembly out. You need to depress spring-loaded tabs on the latch body itself. Open the glove box and look at the small window cut in the housing on the latch. Use a small screwdriver and depress while wiggling on the outside knob and pulling outward. After the inside of the latch comes out you still need a large Allen wrench to unscrew the collar to finally get the whole thing out. It's hard to see the spring-loaded tabs but after you get it out it's pretty simple!
