Need info. Front Cross swap to mid 80's ?

I recelty read that you can swap the front crossmember out with that from a 73-87 Chevy truck. First a question< What benifit would you gain from doing this vs, rebuilding the one that was in your truck to begin with?

Second: are there any location or thread where I can obtain inforamation on what all would need to be changed out?

Thanks,
thomas

I think the idea is if you needed to go to a disk brake setup......

also parts are easier to find and cheaper than the older ones, and they will be in production longer too.

as you know you can switch to the 71-91 spindels if you use matching balljoints and get past the tie rod end size mismatch. If you change out the saddle with the engine stiil in-- I would think it would need supported in some manner. Let me know if you want to go the spindle route and 5 or 6 lugs.

I have 72 spindles on my 67.

K6117 for lowers and either 6124 (1972) or 6136 for uppers. Use the balljoints specified for the same year as the spindle you are using. I Used the outer tie rod ES415R(L) (1972) --- rethreaded it to 5/8" LH from 11/16 RH for both sides. You can get adapter adjusters also.

A buddy of mine made the switch in his 69. He wanted the disks and his original suspension was shot. He said it was quick and easy, had to drill 2 extra holes though.
