One-piece windows, powered update!
Guys, What a difference having the right parts makes. When I originally ordered my one piece windows kit from Brothers, I ordered the non-powered kit. Later I ordered a "ram" style power motor kit. Due to its design, it would not work as anticipated. I wound up calling Brothers and ordering the correct power window motors kit.
I have to admit that I really like the one piece kit when I originally installed it. But, when the windows were partically up or down, they had a little slack or play in the channels. Now that the correct power window motors have been installed I can honestly say that they work better than the stock ones on my 2005 Sierra. They do not have any slack in the channels! They move up and down rapidly. They are made by Electric Life. Perhaps they are a few dollars more, but as I have found, they are worth it!

Man, I got to get well and we have to have another get together so I can see all this stuff on your truck. I agree that some things are just worth spending the money on for quality parts.

Re: One-piece windows, powered update!
I'll post some pics next week once the billet switches are installed and the door panels are back on the doors. All we really lack is to finish covering the seat in the new leather. I am extremely pleased with how everything is turning out. I am glad the windows turned out perfect once power kit was installed. No slack in the channel = No rattles or wind noise!!! Yeah Brothers!

Tell us more about this Vicksburg show! That's close enough. Should be a nice ride. Hopefully I will be able to make it. I have a couple of weekends already spoken for with work related shows in March.

Re: One-piece windows, powered update!
ok, ok, question: Does your power window kit come with a double-switch on the drivers side so you can roll down both windows at the same time? Also, are the switches like the switches in the new trucks with the auto-up/auto-down feature where you can tap it once and the window rolls all the way down? Just curious - I'm about to do a large parts order @ Brothers, I think (tax return), to get a few things I'm gonna need You know, bed wood, one pc windows w/the Electric Life power motors like yours, solid rear window, all new full body bushings kit, left-hand front outer bumper support for power steering truck and new eyebrows for my '68 (which is needed badly)
Just curious before i get crazy and submit an order

Just incase you need it right away

Shifty, To be honest with you I noticed that the kit came with switches but I had already chosen some billet style switches. I had originally planned on centrally locating the switches. When they were too deep to fit in the ash tray, I decided to place them in a trim panel below the seat.

Re: One-piece windows, powered update!
I have to look for the web site but my switches for my windows, I can use the stock window crank handles. No one knows you have electric windows until they try rolling the window down. Pull up and they go up, push down, they go down. I know the buttons look a little cleaner and it lets everyone know that you have electric windows but I seen the switches at a Rod show and that was different.

Here is a link to the switches you are talking about, they are by AutoLoc: http://autoloc.carshopinc.com/produc...6e467e7a984ea9 I originally wanted to use them, but decided to go for the cleaner look of nothing in that area. Hope this link helps!

Re: One-piece windows, powered update!
My son & I put the Brothers one piece window kit in his 72. I was very pleased at how easy it was, also I called the help line with a question & talked to people that actually have installed the kits.

Re: One-piece windows, powered update!
Manual. He is just 17 & does not have the cash for the power. As far as liking them he does not know. It is all torn apart for body & paint (shaved stake pockets, shaved antenna, blazer tank with sidemarker fill,1pc windows, power door locks, relocated tailgate handle, had to replace a couple patch panels.)
He has spent all his paychecks so far. Join the club huh? Mike |
