How much por 15

How much por 15 do you need to do the frame?
I also might do the cab floor but have a little work to do before that.

PINT - $22.00
QUART - $33.00
GALLON - $105.00
5 GALLON - $450.00

Wat am I looking at here?

Re: How much por 15

I used a little over a quart on an S-10 chassis, but we didn't do the entire chassis either... just under the bed and under the front clip, so I'm thinking it woulda been closer to 2 quarts. This is with paint brushes, not sprayed...and spillage was minimal.

I better double check out cans and see that they are quarts...

As far as buying the stuff, I would never recomend getting it in large containers. You are better off spending a little more and getting smaller cans.
The mason jar idea is killer, and the best thing you can do for POR storage.

Re: How much por 15

Buy plenty. I ran out when putting mine on on and had to put it on way too thin ---> rusted through. I would suggest getting Eastwood Rust Encapsulator instead, b/c it isnt supposed to fade like Por15 does. I painted my frame less than a year ago and its already fading. Granted, there wasnt even a cab on it for many months, but still.

If I end up getting a gallon I was planning on putting it in a few jelly jars. I already had my wife save some up.

Re: How much por 15

I would buy two quarts. Brushing on, this will be more than enough to do two coats. Once you open the POR-15, the clock starts ticking on shelf life. They give it up to 6 months opened, 2 years unopened. It also helps to keep it in the fridge.

Be sure to follow their instructions on preparation. If you don't, it won't last. I know from experience.

And don't forget to give it a top coat (paint) so it doesn't break down from the UV rays like Pat describes.

Re: How much por 15

Buy the 4 quart special for $114. They also have plastic snap ons for the can so it pours up better, a buck a piece I think.

Re: How much por 15

i used 2 qrts on my swb chevy p/u. i put on what seems like about a coat & a half if that makes sense. i stripped the frame down to metal then started spraying with a sears paint gun. it seems to be ok though i had some brake fluid leak & had to redo a small part of the frame.

good luck!
