Demon Carbs-Experiences???
Hello yall, I finally have my truck up and running and done after about 3 years, and my carb is dead. A friend recommeded I go with a DEMON by Barry Grant. I just want to ask you all what you think. Are they worth the extra money??? THanks in advance all!!!

I honestly do not know, I don't even have any buddies that are using them at the drags. Personally when I build my motor, Im going with a Street Demon; just like 2 weeks ago, someone had their carb powdercoated red. I think it was a demon or a Holley, can't remember. But I've heard good reports about them from a buddy at a speed shop. He was running it on a manifold for a dominator, he said sometimes have some jetting issues, but what do you expect them to have on his 1500 hp all engine hemi?
But i think they look super clean and they should do just fine for your app. Brandon |

I started out looking for one and have since changed my mind. A friend of mine, who's been in the racing biz for a while now, didnt have anything bad to say about them other than... "You dont gain any performance over the holley, just a different look"
In short, your paying for the new look. I really like the way they look but I dont know if I'm willing to pay 100.00 more. Speed demon - 429.00 Holley 4150 - 329.00 Both 750 dbl pump. |

I was carburator shopping for my BB last spring and called the local speed shop, Jim Green Performance. Talked to their carb guy. When I described my application, he recommended that I stay away from the Demon and look at the Holley Avenger series. He felt that the Avenger would be more reliable in a street application. I actually had a Holley 750 custom built for my engine as I got a deal in B.C. for less than a new Avenger. Hope this helps.

I put a new Demon 750 c.f.m. vacuum secondary on my ZZ4 engine, but never could get it to run quite right. It was especially notorious for flooding, and no amount of tuning could lean the idle circuit. I contacted the Demon tech line and tried their fix, which was basically a waste of time. After weeks of suggested remedies and my own ideas, based on decades of Holley experience, I finally sold the Demon. I replaced it with an Edelbrock Performer 600 c.f.m. square bore, for about half the cost of the Demon. Though it ain't the perfect mixmaster, the Edeblrock is infinitely tuneable, parts are cheap and readily available, and it comes with a really decent owner's manual for custom tuning. ... Just my dos centavos.

For street engines that need low end torque I'd say stay away form the demon. I have run a couple and never could get them not to run on the rich side. The metering circuits are really designed for full throttle power and not low end torque and idling for long stretches. I always reccomend the holley 4175 . For this type of application I think they greatly outperformm the annihalator . Plus they are cheaper.
