By the way, I found out yesterday the owner has to get this crushed tomorrow. I could have got the whole truck for $150 but I didn't have a way to safely move it and store it. Everything was original except it was converted back to gasoline, it had aftermarket camper mirrors, had a fifth wheel bracket on the bed and later style wheels. It also had some kind of overload leaf springs (short stack of leafs over the stock ones). He had me pull anything I wanted for $100 and left me there alone. Too bad I drove a compact car over there.
It had current tags but he just got the junk slip from DMV today. He said everyone that called him about the truck flaked out on him, except for me. I had to leave 2 rust free complete doors, uncut dash, perfect front and rear windshields with chrome trim, uncracked AC boxes ( I pulled the inside diverter box and the flapper was clean and uncracked). The wiring harness I left complete ( i have no patience pulling harnesses and then trying to figure it out later). I pulled the AM radio just to fill the hole in my truck. I also took the glovebox door just for the unusual LP conversion. The cab had rust on the floor and above the front winshield but nowhere else that I could see. I left the power brake assembly except for the 2 support brackets. I pulled several other brackets off the engine and little odds and ends. 1 hr after dark, and the owner not home yet, I figured it's time to leave N. Richmond and head for home.

Even I know that about some of that East Bay riff raff(used to live in NorCal).
Looks like whoever ordered that truck knew what he wanted.That crusher law shizzle sure does suck!!!It`s un-American,by gummit .So far,none here.

Since when do you "have" to get anything crushed?? Is this something new going on in the peoples republik of Kalifornia? Did he take advantage of the $500 for your beater program or something? I bet if he lowered his price from sky high to $150, somebody woulda snapped that up along time ago.

Judging by the term powerlock, my guess is that it had a Dana 60 rear with a limited slip.

How can you tell a Dana 60 from whatever other rear was put in the truck?

His asking price was $300 but dropped it to $200 after knowing the engine was shot (hole in oil pan). He would have taken $150 for the whole truck easily. He has until tomorrow to move out of the house and can't take the truck with him. The truck would not start and he needs to get it to the wrecking yard today. They offered him $125 for the truck. It had current tags but he had to get a junk slip so the junkyard will pay him the $125.00. He netted $225. My $100 + the yards $125. He would have taken less for the parts I took because he was going to junk the whole thing for $125 anyway but I figured the parts I took were well worth $100 so that's what I offerred to give him which he didn't hesitate to accept. Shortly after I gave him the $100, they took off in their car. I haven't seen him since. I think the yard got a much better deal, but I'm happy with the parts I ended up with , not to mention, not having to wade through a wrecking yard.

I guessed. My assumption is that it was a 3/4 ton truck, and as far as I know there was not a limited slip unit ever available for an eaton H052/72, just the detroit locker.

That is a 72 3/4 ton GMC, you can see the VIN in the upper left of the SPID label.
That may well just be GMC talk for locker...which is a limited slip by another name.

I'd of grabbed the tilt column I suppose...the posi would have been time consuming to get.

First pic I've seen of the propane option in a long time....cool pic......get to see how to write it in mine when I get a new sticker and make an option sheet. Where do you think the tank was ( as in original location)...since its been back to gas.

I wondered about the tank location on these,too.I`d guess outside the frame under the bed.Yeah,the Powerloc is the Dana posi.That`s what my GMC has.

Good spot on the data sheet, I noticed the TCE on the Vin that's my dead giveaway that it is a GMC

he grabbed the tilt first i spoke to him about it last night on the phone. if the city wasn't on my butt, i'd have had him park it at my house. i really hate living in the city limits

The truck was in fact a 72 GMC 2500. It was a Sierra, but had the Sierra Grande option according to the sticker. No woodgrain on the glovebox door or guage bezel (painted), but the door panels, and lower mouldings had the woodgrain. There was no cut out on the bedsides for a gas filler. It had the gasoline filler in the stock location.

I grabbed the tilt, AC brackets, power steering pump/brackets/pulleys, alt brackets, brake booster support brackets, oil filler, Carburetor, light bezels, guage cluster, ashtray, glovebox door, AC controller and diverter box, AM radio, bench seat with good upholstery, cargo light and switch, outer seat belts, camper mirrors.

I left just about everything else, including complete doors (uncut, but with multiple mirror holes), nice hood, left fender, all upper and lower mouldings except right fender which was dented, the rest of the AC parts intact, clean 4 core radiator, support, inner fenders, bumper brackets, hood hinges, nice exhaust manifolds with all heat shields, thick tailgate moulding (tailgate was bowed). Anything that required crawling under, I didn't attempt for fear of hyperdermic needles or what else (not from the owner but from the neighbors). Lady next door after screaming and hollering at someone, came to the front porch and started heaving over her porch the whole time I was there. All the glass and gaskets on this truck was nice and better than mine, but I already sliced my finger with my own knife cutting one ac compressor hose in half that I didn't want to take a chance on breaking any glass in the dark. If not for the tilt and AC brackets, I think I would have walked away. My ride nearly got sideswiped more than a couple of times and as it got dark the music started playing louder. Although I didn't feel threatened the time I was there, I didn't want to take a chance staying too late as this area had one of the highest homicide rates in the previous years in Nor Cal.

At least you could dismantle your truck in front of your house. I have to do it in my side yard, behind the fence, which is cramped.

I couldn't allow them to crush a good truck tilt, Jerry. A van tilt yes but not a truck tilt . Didn't you say you had a factory propane truck? Where was the tank and filler? By the way I also grabbed the headliner which matches my blue and white interior.

Pretty Sweet Never seen the LPG Conversion listed before...too bad you couldn't have gotten the whole truck...at least you got your money's worth.

Yah, I think I got my moneys worth. I wish I had the room or more time to get this truck. I know where to get an engine/tranny combo to put right in. I already have a spare passenger fender and a grill and bumpers better than the one in that truck. It would have made a good work truck for someone if I turned around and sold it. Of course I would have swapped the tilt for a regular column.

I have a Sierra that says SierraGrande like that.I guess if a person added what a Grande had it would somehow be more "correct".It`s like the factory is helping me make a counterfeit.Actually,I`ve done the opposite.It has a blue interior and I took the woodgrain out of the doors because I think it looks better.As well as the all blue/all vinyl seat,blue bezel,and glovebox door.It`s a white truck.I also like the shorter "Sierra" script on the bedside.But,if I wanted it to be a SierraGrande...

What is the complete VIN number? I am curious if it came from the Freemont California plant and the LP conversion and clean air and all that jazz of the 70's.
