14 Bolt dimensions ?

Well it looks like the HO 72 is getting boxed up and put away... the 3.90 ratio (if i switch from the 4.57) is still too steep for daily driving. An dGV doesnt make an adapter for the Rockwell 221

So i am looking for a nice late model 14 bolt....

Anyone know where i can find spring pad width info as well as drum to drum and yoke size?

u joint cap size is 1410 i beleive, but i know are 1-3/16" diameter caps, you can buy conversion joints at napa, etc so you can use 7/8" on one side and 1 3/16 on other side

width may depend on whthe ris pickup or chassis cab model(pickup model would be narrower)
I can measure you my pickup bed model 14 bolt FF if you need it, but wheels are mounted so all i can get accurately is from backside of outer diamter of brake backing plate to plate

spring pad spacing is 42.5"
if you have a leaf 2wd 67-72 then it wil be direct fit cept for one shock mount that can be changed at upper end- in the frame rail- easily


if you want as high as a 3.,73 one then you need to look for a factory 454 73-80 truck(all 3/4 and 1 ton have the 14 bolt ZFF if they dont have dana 60), thats what my 74 454 auto C20 has in it for the ratio, is 41-11 teeth, 3.73 is the highest ratio ive seen for 14 bolt FF so far. there are alot of locking diff ones out there, check the SPID label in the glovebox for G80 locking diff code

thanks for the info .... yes I could use the backing plate width.

the truck is 40.185 perch (67 3/4 4WD) on center so unless anyone knows of a 14FF that has that width (anybody?) it looks like I'll be moving the perches and one shock mount.

I am actually looking to change to 3.42 ratios in the front and rear not the 3.73 ..... but thats still up for debate.

One ton trucks of the '73 - '87 vintage have the same spring pad spacing as the '67 - 72 leaf spring trucks. unfortunately, single rear wheel one tons are a little bit rare, and the shock mounts are wrong also. In '73, they started with one shock going forward, and one back.
