Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
I plan on buying a new radiator this week from www.radiators.com. My question is why do some radiators have a heater hoses connection while others do not? Dont they all trucks have heaters?

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
I don't think my hoses connect to the radiator. I know at least one connects to the water pump. I think the other connects to the intake.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
Mine plug into the manifold, and one into the water pump. Some models I do think went into the radiator. Mine is a '68 with a 307

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
In most cases the return heater hose (3/4") goes to the radiator if the truck has a/c. A non a/c truck return heater hose goes to the water pump. The heater hose that is feeding the heater core (5/8") with hot coolant comes from the intake.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
My truck is an a/c truck (it's not hooked up but it's there) and it doesn't go to the radiator. That's not to say the DSOM didn't change out the radiator.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
Most replacement radiators no longer have the heater hose return connection. I think the main factor I have noticed is that automatic tranny trucks had the return connect. All of my trucks happen to be missing the cab cooling device but still have the heater return line in the radiator.
Without the above the return line then goes to the water pump.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
Once again, my truck has an automatic too. I've never owned a truck with the heater hose return. Could it be a regional thing.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
My first truck was fairly original, and the rad apeared to be original, but in reality there's no telling. It had a small block/auto, A/C and no nipple on the rad.
My other two trucks were so far from stock with engines that weren't even the same type that was there originally... so there's no telling what was or was not there originally. |

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
My truck a 71 C20 with 350V8 auto no air has the hose going to the rad. The guy who lives next door has the same truck and same hose to rad. The rad in my truck appears original, his has been replaced at some time.

Re: Radiator Heater Hose Connection?
Both mine, AC and autos, the heater hoses are attached at intake manifold and h20 pump. The 350 has an edlebrock mani, the 396 has the stock cast iron holley.
