Wow, 7 1/2 years to pay off a truck that cost only around $3,000. But the money back then was not like it is today.

Yeah. my mom always told me how tough times were growing up on a small family farm, but I really got a better ida of what she was talking about after I saw that on the truck title.

And this is a completely base V8 longbed. No AC, no radio, no lighter, not even a rearview mirror.

I am the fourth owner of my truck. It started it's life on a farm about a 100 miles east of Regina. When the old fellow retired from farming he gave it to his nephew. When he quit farming he sold it to a friend in Regina and I bought it from him. The original owner give the truck the nickname birdie and that is how I got my board name.

I think in a round about way, I am the 6th owner of mine....the truck spent most of its life as a farm rig in PA, then it was sold via ebay to a guy in newark ohio, who traded it in at a dealer about a year or so later.....that dealer traded it to another dealer for a trailer, and I bought it from the guy who purchased it off the second dealers car lot......all of the trading and selling happened in about a year and a half-2year time span.....made me a little worried that they had all discovered something serious that i hadn't....well, 6 months later, and I am still happy with it.....I think the dealers had a hard time moving it because its an I6

My truck started life as most do, a proud vehicle ready and able to do whatever it took to get the job done. Life was good for the first several years, daily runs to and from work, an occasional run to the lumber yard or dump, and oh yes of course a yearly family vacation!

Then tough times hit, it was the height of the oil embargo of the 70's. The once proud truck found itself in long lines at the pump, ridiculed and deemed a worthless gas guzzler. Fuel sipping imports sneered at it, it's less powerful and inferior built younger cousins laughed at it. With it's once shiney exterior now dulled with age, and its once clean undercarriage now caked with rust, it's duties were relegated to yard art and a place for the feral cats to pee.

Fast forward to the 90's, the old girl had a renassance of sorts. She was dragged from the pergatory to which she was condemmed and given a new battery and some fresh gas. A prayer was said and the key turned; she roared to life. Today she still looks as she did for many dark years, but now with a purpose as a yard plow. She's also comforted in the fact she's loved and her day will come!

Now if I could just rid her of that cat pee smell!

My old 72 K5 Blazer was bought new by the AZ game and Fish dept and after its duty there was passed to 1-2 people then me. Somewhere it lost its I6 and got a 454, fair trade I guess. It is nice, and the only options are like AC and posi, rubber mats and not much else. Man, that must have been tough to have to go to work and drive that new K5 around all day!?

All I know was that my truck was originally sold at a dealer in Brownsfield, TX, then it somehow ended up in SC. I've owned it since 96. My uncle owned it from 95 to 96. Have no idea how many people owned it before us.

Mine originally came from Jackson Chevy in Garland, Tx. There's a sticker in the glovebox with the salesman's name. I bought it from a cop in Seagoville in 03. No idea of the people in between.

My truck is a 1969. It seems that the college at which I work saw riots in 1968 against the Vietnam war. This resulted in college owned trucks being burned and my truck being one of those bought to replace them. Eventually it was sold to a man who used it to deliver milk. I bought it in 1996 for my daughter to use when she was in high school . When she went to college it reverted to me. I swapped out the cab, bed, engine and transmission and plan to give it to my son who has recently returned from service in Iraq. Ain't it strange how things work out ?

I got lucky with my truck. The guy I bought it from had all the paper work
with the exception of the window sticker. It was bought new in texas and
stayed there until about 6 years ago when he moved back to ohio to retire.

Our 69 C10 was purchased new by a farmer. He didn't like the coil rear for hauling the 120 gallon fuel tank he had and traded it in. My dad bought it from the dealer in 71-72 and used it on our farm until he passed on in 03. Dad left instructions, and it passed to my now 12 year old son, who can't wait to start driving.

My 70 started life as a Mississippi farm truck. I am the 3rd owner. My friend's father (my friend is in his 70s) bought it when he retired his auto mechanic shop and went to farming. I have the original warrenty tag and some other documents on where it was bought, in or near Natchez, MS. As I mentioned earlier in the post, I was hoping to get a lot more original photos and documents from my firend as he was sorting out stuff to move homes. Then Katrina came and put his house completely under water, so whatever he had got turned in to crap mush.

My 69 part truck I have no idea, I am at lest the fifth owner, and that is about all I know other than she will bring the 70 back to life.
