ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Well..i have done a search and found nothing of what i need. For all you guys that are lowered a decent amount, what headers are you running? I am running Hedman long tubes and my truck is to low and i bottom out on them and that isnt good. Do you guys know of any good mid-length headers so they wont hang below my frame rails because i also plan on bagging it soon. I would go with shorties but i dont want to lose the torque...or are there some that dont make muc idfference because i was looking into getting hooker shorties.
thank, tyler |

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Ive got Sanderson Shortys on mine & I love em, though there not cheap. I had the same problem with the full length headers I had on it. If I lost any low end torque it wasnt enough to notice...but than I have a 454...so alls I can say is I still get the same amount of rubber through 2nd gear as before LOL.

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
I have edelbrocks on my truck. It's not bagged, but I hit my A arms going in and out of my driveway some times, So i know that the headers sit higher than the a-arms.

i have long tubes and a 3 inch drop up front and it takes a pretty big dip to get them to scrape, but i drive really slow over stuff.

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Im bagged and I have long tube tri-y thorleys and they tuck pretty nice. They definitely hit when I lay out, but thats to be expected, I wanna get some 3/4 length for chevelles too.

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
well..then it seems that the chevelle headers are the way to go...can any of you guys notice the torque loss of shorter headers??
Also, BLUEX...can you send me a link to those headers? Summit only shows them in long tubes. thanks, tyler Last edited by 1hot84'; 03-03-2006 at 11:18 AM. |

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Part # at Summit is WLK-86118
$265.95 Ceramic coated "EDIT" That is the part # for the camaro headers. IIRC there are some clearance issues with these. I think the Chevelle headers are made a bit different and it appears that Summit does not carry them anymore or Dynomax is not making them

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Pulling out my old Nov 99 edition of Sport Truck the part numbers for my headers are 85118. They are a 1.5" primary with a 2.5" collector.
They used these headers on there '68 Low Buck Buildup. Thats where I got the idea to try them. I knew that a popular mod to those model truck was to swap to the 73-87 front crossmember to get the disc brakes and such so I figured the frames must be similar and that the headers should work on mine. They work great and I'm happy with them. The #1 and #2 plugs are a bit tough to change and you have to be careful not to crack the plugs. Other than that all the other normal stuff you have to watch for with headers. I think they were around $106 when I bought them. Here is a link: http://store.summitracing.com/defaul....asp&x=38&y=14 They are $126 now. In Nov 99 when ST used them they are $92.

Tyler, I have a set of those dynomax headers that are ceramic coated if you want to check them out. I live in Arlington.

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
Anybody have trouble installing a front sway bar with the dynomax headers (3/4 lengths)?

Re: ATTN: all lowered owners!!
I have one for mine but have not installed it as I need to get some bushings and brackets.
I dont see where it would interfere as the bar mounts on the front side of the suspension crossmember. It shouldnt be anywhere near the headers.
