3 speed manual to 4 speed manual....?
Hello all,
I have a 68 short bed fleet side with a 3 speed manual. I am considering puting a car 4 speed in it. Muncie m-20 or b/w t-10. Has anyone done this? Can the 4 speed hang out like the 3 speed does or do I need to put in a rear crossmember? Any idea where the shifter will need to come through the floor and where to get the correct arm? Any help from you guys would be great. Thanks,

4 speeds forever!
Nice looking truck ya have there, and, yes, you can swap to a car type 4 speed. It's a direct bolt-in. You can let it hang (I did, for a while, untill I found a rear crossmember). The shifter I use, is a Hurst from a 57 chevy, it fits real good. Most Muncies have the speedo cable outlet on the passenger side of the tailshaft housing, making the stock speedo cable too short. I use a cable from a 1975 Monte Carlo, the length and cable ends are perfect. Oh, the rear crossmember I am using was from a 1972 C-10 with TH 350 trans. You don't have to run the rear crossmember, but it looks more secure if you do.

A Saginaw 4-speed wouldn't even need a changed speedo cable. Where to come through the floor depends on the tranny. . .
