71 leaf spring frame swap on my 67.
I think I"m going to put my 67 over on this 71 frame. It has leaf springs. I was going to put psteering, discs, so forth on my 67 but I thought if I have to pull the front clip to heat up and dimple the frame for power steering, do the front end conversion, find V8 mounts, 5 lug rear this would be way easier. The guy I know will trade me frames straight across so he can make a pickup bed trailer out of it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=181551 (the cab is going on his 4wd GMC.) I might be able to get the steering column. I'm going to do this full swap, rebuild the topend of a 305, turbo 350 auto in May and try to have it ready for our old car cruise on June 2.
Any comments or suggestions? |

Swap the 305 for a 350, other than that sounds like a plan.

Re: 71 leaf spring frame swap on my 67.
I don't quite understand how to reply to a certain person, but I upgraded my front suspension by bolting a complete 83 1/2 ton frt. suspension in my 70 frame. this gave me power disc brakes and power steering and all but 2 of the bolts dropped right into the 70 frame. I did have to drill 2 new holes, but other bolts had it lined up .so it was easy.

The 67 frame would still have to be dimpled for the power steering box regardless(have to remove the front clip for this anyway) then switching out the rear to 5lug.
