body side moldings
i'm in the process of preping my truck for paint and think i want to two tone iti want all new or very nice trim [i have none now] but it's spendy. today i was thinking about it and was wondering about just buying new upper molding and using the lower rubber molding from 88 and up trucks. the reason for this would be to save it from parking lot dings.you see i might just let my daughter drive it to school and i do plan on using it as a driver as well has anyone done this if so how did it work out. any pics?

Sorry cant help w/ pics,....but i have seen trucks on here w/ later model trim. On another note, I am thinking of buying the lower trim and using pin striping for the top!

I've seen it done before, just the other day I saw one on this site. Personally though, anybody that knows anything about these trucks will know it obviously is not original. Lots cheaper and functional, but I'd rather go without if I couldn't use the correct trim. My plans are to buy (it will be aftermarket) the lower trim and not use the upper because of the price.

i'm not concerned about it being original i'm looking at functional in saving the paint. i would love to have the corect trim but it dings so easaly from people who who just don't respect somone elses things

I thought about getting the chrome lower trim off a new fullsize....just to be different

yeah me too..... i just wish the rear point was on th bed in front of the tire instead of only on the cab
