frustration
Well, I finally found the parts I needed to finish my transmission rebuild so I decided to have my case Hot Tanked before putting it all back together. I took it to the tranny shop and the guy found a crack in the case. He was going to look around for a used TH350 case for me. Hopefully he can find one and it won't be too expensive. Just another thing holding me up from getting the truck back on the road.

Rest asured that TH350 cases are easer to find than TH400 cases. You should be able to find one without much trouble. Heck buy a used crappy tranny that has a good case! Shouldn't cost more than $150 at most.

Yah, TH350s are easy. 100/150 will buy the whole thing. Just heard a TH400 quoted at the salvage yard yesterday for 300.00 used. They are getting scarce. Can't believe I got my 700 builder for 75.00!

Well, the tranny shop can't find a 4x4 case. He said that it can take months to track one down. I may have to just go with a 2wd case. I'm still lookin though. If anyone has a line on a "K" case in the Puget Sound area, let me know.

A two wheel drive case will work fine. All that you have to do is change the tail shaft and yours will work unless that is what is cracked. If not your local transmission shop should be able get one of those relatively cheap. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Just be glad the crack showed up now and wasn't one of those that you can't see, but gives birth to your tranny inards on the first little race against some granny in a Pugeot. :-)

lol, "granny in a Pugeot."
I decided to go with the 2wd case. There is a "K" case for sale on CK5 but they want $300 plus shipping. Someday, when I'm rich, I'll look for a 4wd case. Thanks for the help guys! ------------------ '69 K-5 Blazer - 350/TH350, 6" lift, 35" tires Bothell, WA
