shoulder seat belts
has anyone installed shoulder belts on their 67-72 chevy?? i am currious about what people's opinons are on these and if they look decent...??...
pictures always help

S10 belts . There are some direct bolt in's also check the board vendors .

I am using ones out of a 87. I have seen some advertised in the back of Street Rodder Mag for $89 a side for mini retractable and for normal size and they have 8 colors
www.julianos.com plus lap belt sets for 34.95 per person and a company I have used for completely rebuilt tilt column for my 67 truck, check out the price from them......snake river customs www.steeringcolumns.com and if you are really nice i might let go the secret tilt company near Bisquick, maybe...........! |

cstanley just bought a set of replacement belts from Chevy Duty and was real happy with them. They have more colors, and use aircraft style buckles. I have his old set (like the 3 points in the julianos link above) but haven't installed them yet.

yes, i am very happy with mine. chevyduty was the only place i could find dark green ones, but they had the biggest color choice. the floor-mounted spool is nice looking and very compact.

Got mine out of a 1998 Chevy extra cab 'W/T' (worktruck)....thus the adjustment brackets have covers...not made into the wall trim like the Silverado.
Love them!!!

Don't see why not. The stock seat is a little shorter on the back (if I recall) so there should be nothing getting in the way. Just have to get the female part of the belts (the part with the release button) that bolt to the floor out of a truck or Suburban front bucket....my second row Suburban ones are made into the seat frame.

I'm looking to replace my seatbelts as well, and i see that everyone has the shoulder belts. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to install the shoulder belts. My truck has what looks like a metal plug, where I imagine the seat belts would go, but I don't want to tear into it and find out that i need to do some serious modifications to put in shoulder belts. .. Can anyone help please.

the plug is plastic. just pop it out with your pocketknife (you do carry one, right?) you will find a threaded anchor hole that is a standard size (my aftermarket ones came with the right bolt.) the floor mounts use the factory belt anchor holes...

Hmmm. I had a look at the anchor holes in my truck and found that they are not threaded. I hope I don't have to go buy a tap specifically for threading those holes and then never use it again. What size thread do the S10's commonly use?

it's really a backing plate inserted behind the sheetmetal. i's the same, or at least similar, to the ones you'll find under the cab for the factory seat belt mounts.

!! Seat Belts ( Especially Shoulder Belts) Work !!
In the Januaruy 2006 Custom Classic Trucks magazine ( page 82 ) there is an article about a company called The Truck Shop in Fullerton California,
www.buckle-up.net, that have designed a 3 point Inertia Seatbelt system for 67-72 Chev trucks.. All this shoulder belt chatter got me thinking its time to share a personal seat belt survivor story with all of you.. I was going to work at about 6:00 am on April 26 /06 and I screwed up and tried to best a train at a level crossing, and didn't.. I should be dead but i'm not and I feel the biggest factor that saved me was my seatbelt especially the shoulder belt. The train was going 23MPH and pushed me about 200 ft down the tracks..
