Re: phantom Grill
I am not a big fame of phantom grills (and of course I prefer the 69/70 grill). My vote would be for the stock grill.

Re: phantom Grill
If the truck is highly modified use the phantom grill. If stock style use the stock grille. I'm not a fan of the phantoms either.

Re: phantom Grill
I agree with ratrod, if the grill matches the overall look of the truck, then go with that grill.
I like phantom grills, but it would look like ass on my ratrod truck because there is little "custom" looking stuff on my truck. So I just modified the stock grill. |

I have to disagree wth the others. A clean stock grill looks great to me.

Re: phantom Grill
do the phantom then have the whole billet insert powdercoated black, and tint your headlights black also

Re: phantom Grill
the phantom grill is the best choice by far. i love the stock grills on these trucks, but if you are doing a custom build, why not give another reason for someone to come look at your truck. it's pricey, but stockers run up quite a bill too.

Re: phantom Grill
Custom Truck, Custom Gille. I like the phantom and want to do the same. Another question.
How easy to swap a 67 grill for a Phantom or older model grill? Is there a kit, is it a simple swap. Sorry for the newbie question.....but I am a newbie.

Re: phantom Grill
67 shortnfat, easiest way would be to swap the fenders and hood for a 69-72 set and then you could use the 71-72 surround and the phantom insert.

This is my second chioce next to stock(I love stock trucks, wierd I know ) This is a pick of my project afterburn when the PO had it prior to the fire and you can see chrome outer and black billet insert, looks way better in person, my.02 the pic is small due to that is his avatar pic on here although I don't think he comes around anymore. Re: phantom Grill
i'd have to vote for phantom. i put one on my 69 and it looks awesome and i get plenty of compliments. it is a little bit of work to make them fit like; cutting your headlight bezels of your outer grille moulding, trimming your front fenders or the back of the grille itself, and you have to cut the headlight buckets off your radiator support just to get the lights to fit. but damn it looks sexy!

Re: phantom Grill
i like the stock grills but also like the tube grill inserts but dont care for the phantoms due to visability concerns// if you do go with a tube insert or phantom you need to plan on a remote hood opening mechanism
