New guy, old truck

Hey everyone. I just recently bought a '70 3/4 Ton 4wd Lwb with a 396 BB and 4spd with disc brakes up front. I found this site and found some very usefull things so I thought I would join. Its a huge work in progress and I'm already finding that this truck has some stuff from different years on it so its proving difficult to find some parts for it. Its my first truck in this year range so I'm still learning about them. Hopefully I can find some help here as I go throughout the project.

ha! I feel your pain... I've had the same issue on my '65... jsut take pics, and write down part numbers.. and ask questions. Sooner or later you'll get most of it figured out.

Welcome!

p.s. oh yeah, neat truck.

Re: New guy, old truck

Thanks everyone. I just need to fix the leak on the gearbox to get it drivable now. I'm trying to get everything mechanical up to par and then I'm going to tear into everything else. It's going to be a driver for me ( as un-economical as it may be ) so I want it safe. I leave sept. 26 for the Air Force so its kind of my summer project that I want done before I leave. I plan I painting it a light metallic blue. I'm kind of shocked that it has disc brakes up front but no power brakes . I plan on adding them though. Thanks for all of the responses.
