What do you think it's worth

I found this while searching the internet. Ad says it is: 1969, targetmaster 350, 4 spd w/granny gear, new tires, rockwell t-case, 456 gears, front and rear heat. Also says custom built. I haven't called the guy yet, but I wanted to get opinions on wheather it looks custom built professional or I have a case of beer and a free weekend custom built . I haven't seen one that looks like so I have no clue. almost forgot, it's a K20.

Thanks, Scott

Re: What do you think it's worth

you sure thats not the result of an accident...the longbed rear ending a class C motorhome and knocking the motorhome completely off the chassis??

Re: What do you think it's worth

That has to be a couple of trucks put together by someone with too much time on his hands lol. All kidding aside I have never seen anything like that. I can tell you one thing, if it is custom built (and I would really look at the chassis closely) then to fix the rusty parts I can see and the ones we know must be there and cant see will take a lot of hand building of parts to repair it. you would almost have to buy two of everything like rocker panels etc. and put it all together.

Re: What do you think it's worth

I have seen these before and I think there are threads with pics like this one. It was done to poor way using two truck cabs instead of the cleaner way using a suburban cut short. Frame would be an issue with it being that long.

Re: What do you think it's worth

That is the way they did crew cabs back then. Alot of service trucks were done that way for the forest service and military. Crews just sold one on here a few months back. Not alot of them made but it was the most common way they made them.

Re: What do you think it's worth

Their were other companies as well. they have been building crew cab trucks even back in the 50's. Their was a company in Decatur,Tx that was building extended cabs instead of 4 doors in the late 70's and early 80's and selling them right next door at Walker Chevrolet.

Re: What do you think it's worth

I believe that truck is in Da-burbs neighborhood, and he has some knowledge of it.

There is a reason that it has been for sale for several years...

Re: What do you think it's worth

Thanks for the input guys, sounds like I should steer clear of this one. Your right Chris, truck is in Delano, up by Da-burb. It's nice to have a network to bounce things off of.

Chris, I'm still waiting for the pitman arm to show from the west coast, guy said it should be here thursday. I'll still call you tonight to set a time for the locker.

Scott
Here is how I look at it.
Take a map of the state of Minnesota. Find the scale on the map and cut a piece of string to represent 200 miles on that map's scale. Tie one end of that string to a pencil and the other to a pin. Put the pin on Delano, the largest town near Da-burb's house. Now stretch the string holding on to the pencil and draw a circle around Delano.

If a 67-72 Chevy truck/Blazer/Sub is inside that circle and is for sale, it isn't worth it, Da-burb already looked at it.

On a side note, you'll notice there are no Ochre colored trucks of that vintage for sale inside that circle. He can't pass on those no matter how crappy they are.

IMHO, offer the guy enough to insult him, and go up from there. Or ask him what he wants and dicker down from there.

I think this is your answer!

EDIT: I didn't get to 68 50th's post before I posted. I didn't know there was an aftermarket builder building them like that. Interesting........

Matt, I am crying from the laughter.

Deland, thanks for the new name. I love it.

Did I mention that I have 2 suburban bodies that would make better crew cabs than that truck...............
