Re: backwoods garage find!
Great looking truck. Whatever he paid for it is worth it. it sure beats spending 15 or 20 grand on paint and body work and everything else that goes along with it

Outstanding truck! What a stunning find!!!

Consider Sanderson cast iron headers. Sanderson sells them ceramic metallic coated. Less engine compartment heat than tube headers but still provide header performance. Great look, too. High cost, though.

Re: backwoods garage find!
I noticed the vette vc's, but I just now had a chance to look at the thread. Very nice find. I have a thing for trucks originally from AL. Mine came from Gadsden.
Asa, check out Hedman Elite headers. Get the part number Craig has on GQ. They dump up in the frame and are still full length. I'm gonna get a set for mine.

Seeing a truck like that makes me love these 67-72 trucks even more - they really are a great looking style. Hope your buddy becomes a member soon.

Re: backwoods garage find!
Leave it to Andy to notice Asa's wife in the background. She's very nice in person and a recent college grad. Smart enough to be with a guy with TWO SWEET trucks. I like the comment you made Asa about your wife telling you it's not for sale. That sounds like something Mandi would say to me.
Hope your friend joins quick!!!

Re: backwoods garage find!
He's been lurking around here for a few days and I can tell you that he appreciates the compliments! He's waiting until after he decides on his prestige tag choice before he joins the board. He wants to have his board name be the same as his tag. He's staying pretty much on the down low for now on the $ amount. He has been looking around like a madman at headers and exhaust components (due to the factory ones leaking a tad). I told him if he was going to lower it to go ahead and do it now due to possible interference with the exhaust. Heck it's more money to spend now but cheaper than having to redo the new exhaust later after the drop. In the meantime he has been spending his evenings cleaning up the bad boy and shopping around for parts. He has already located a Camaro tach for the dash along with a 3/4 ton swaybar for the frontend. A deal has also been struck to trade his wheels for some 8" rally wheels. You guys know how it is, the gears in your head never stop turning it's just a matter of time and money to get things going.

Re: backwoods garage find!
I guess I'm lucky that way. And the fact that so many of HER family has given me money or parts for it that she feels like I should keep it just to satisfy them.

Re: backwoods garage find!
oh yeah, and awesome find.....I like the stance just like it is though, I would stick with the rally wheels upgrade though.
losing the bug deflector was probably a good idea though....probably increased your mpg by at least 2-3mpg (more aerodynamics)

Re: backwoods garage find!
Well my bud got signed up for the board over the weekend but he hasn't been able to post anything yet (seems to be some delay, I'm sure a mod will be on it soon). His user name is 71see10. In the mean time he has been cleaning and wrench'n like a madman!
The alternator was whining a tad so it was swapped out. While it was out he painted the brackets and the front of the engine. The shroud was pressure washed to make it look tip top again. The most noticeable difference is the addition of the rally wheels and flipping the tires around to the blackwall side! And the trailer hitch was ditched! He also rubbed out all the paint in the interior and gave his mat and pedals a good cleaning with scrubbing bubbles. So he's here now he just hasn't figured out how to make a post yet! I am sure that you will see a lot more of it in the future. He keeps mumbling about it sitting to high off the ground......... |
