Need some opinions!!
When I bought my truck I had a plan for it. I really wanted a clean shortbed that I could completely rebuild and keep around for lots and lots of years. I was having trouble finding a good one to start with so I found a long bed that was a 2 owner truck. It is a real clean rust free truck. It has ALL the options and the only rust is 1 rocker and cab corner. So I had planned on cutting it down and making it a shorty. The truck has been in my garage for a couple of months now and I have been finding the parts I need to completely finish it. So today I take the rubber bed lining out and I was completely shocked. The bed floor is completly perfect. It has 0 dents or dings and the paint even looks brand new and the truck has never been painted. So I really got to looking at the whole bed and its absolutely perfect. Its one of the cleanest, straightest beds I have ever seen and now I can't hardly convince myself into cutting this truck down. I guess it may staff a long bed. I was just needing some suggestions.

Re: Need some opinions!!
That should provide for some easy welding in the shortening process then.

CUT IT UP!!! Shorten it down, get rid of the extra length... Just Kidding...
I would keep it long if it is that nice, you can always find one that is beat up a bit so you won't feel bad. It ultimately lays on your shoulders as to what you would really like your truck to be. Mike |

Re: Need some opinions!!
I know, I really dont believe in killing old vehicles since they are getting pretty hard to find, especially nice ones. I will probably keep it a long bed and just try to find a shorty to start building.

Re: Need some opinions!!
i woud also leave it long repair the cab corner and rocker keep it and find the shortie you always wanted. you can never have to many trucks or find a wood floor bed for shortening and sell your long box to fund the project

Re: Need some opinions!!
Make it what you want. Find a swb frame and swap the cab and front clip over. Build or buy a short bed for it. Heck I don't know what I would do. I personaly prefer a SWB but LWB trucks are nice too.........they just aren't for me. There are a lot of nice longbeds that have been cut down out there. It's a practical solution to a shortage of shortbeds.

Re: Need some opinions!!
A super clean long bed should fetch decent enough money to put towards a short bed, and you won't feel guilty driving around in your new shortbed.
