6 Bolt wheels

Will these newer style Silverado 6 bolt wheels fit on my 69 GMC 1/2 ton?

Tires are BF GOODRICH RADIAL LONGTRACK T/A 245/75R/16

If I remember correctly, the center bore is too small.

Re: 6 Bolt wheels

Lots of off set in those newer wheels, something like 5".

I've heard of guys having the centers machined out to fit.

Re: 6 Bolt wheels

Not looking for a lot of work, just a deal on a set of wheels and tires.

Re: 6 Bolt wheels

I tried the use the ones off of my 2003 Silverado on my 68, and thats when I found the center bore to be too small. The bolt pattern is metric (I think), but will work. Might be worth a call to a couple of machine shops to see what it would cost to chuck them up in a lathe and open them up a bit. Would be really easy if you could find a lathe with a big enough swing.

Re: 6 Bolt wheels

All replies about the center bore being too small are correct. I ran into the same problem with the wheels I'm currently running. I chose to pull the axles and have the flanges machined down to correct it. Up front I was fine since I have a late-model disc conversion. I am running 1-1/2" spacers out back to correct the backspacing issue. Up front, no spacers as the drop spindles and disc conversion already gave me a wider track width than stock so it was fine.

Re: 6 Bolt wheels

Center is too small. Had the exact same wheels. This is what I found. Offset looks goofy on the rear. On the front the wheel rubbed the control arm.
