Anyone used this transmission cooler?

Like the title says:

How has it worked for you?

Is the price a good one? Or can they be bought cheaper elsewhere?

Did you use the 18" one or the 12" one? If you used a 12" did you wish you got the 18"?

Did you mount it "in-line" with the radiator cooler or run the lines straight to the transmission?

I see it looks like the fittings they give you are made for hoses??? Did anyone run steel line right into the cooler?

Where did you mount it.... PICS

I just ordered a TV made EZ kit from bowtie overdrives and their TC lock-up kit. The transmission will be a rebuilt 700R4 (yup I already cooked one and I don't want to do it again!!!)

If you're lacking space or don't want it seen sure, but not nearly the cooling area available as w/ a plate style, like

On a street truck use inline w/ current tranny lines. Mount ahead of radiator.
Bigger is better w/ any oil cooler. You can use hardline the whole way but most peeps use a lil rubber hose to connect hardline to the cooler. Helps deal w/ some of that vibration.

If your 700 is burning up, is it a build/lockup problem. The TV is way important but so is lockup. If using a Holley get the TV cable alignment bracket and cable holder.
A external oil filter helps on the 700's.
What stall? If it's more than your OD rpm it'll burn up fer sure.
What kinda lockup, mechanical or vacuum/electrical. I'm sold on mechanical lockup. That way you don't need the aftermarket lockup kit.
It's taken me 3 toasted T700R4's in my 4x4 and 3 different shops, to get one done RIGHT!

That one is available on ebay as well, very similar in price.

The BO kits take the guesswork out of TV adjustment and lock-up. The lock-up kit works with the brakes. The BO kits are supposed to be the best out there.

I put 5K miles on an '83 firebird junkyard tranny (already had like 80K on it) before it lost 3rd and 4th. I hot rodded the hell out of it too (I would burned the tires all the way through second gear). I'm trying to do what's necessary too give the "new" tranny a much longer life!

those type of tranny coolers are great they disapate heat better than the old(100year old design) radiator type tranny coolers and actually require less airflow due to the heatsink design and aluminum construction
as far as the price it's not bad tho i occasionally see them at super deals at some swapmeets but compared to most catalogues it's a good savings

I have one on my truck, and they mount nicely behind the grill, in front to the radiator, and out in the wind! I did the research and this style cooler does a much better job than the old plate style. I have a $2000 + 700R4 and this is the style I went with. You can see it here in the pic. It does have to be lowered slightly to get hood clearance. A local speed shop and good friend of mine told me if I have any trans cooling issues...he will buy me a new 700R4 for me. He is too cheap to just throw his money at me. These coolers flat out work...and work well!!! Get the 18" one !!!

I KNEW I had seen pics of one on here before! Is that the 18" on your truck?

Do the lines run directly to the transmission or to the radiator then transmission?

Just out of curiosity..... how come it's on the driver's side?

I bought my "'Mega Monster" trans from www.eatmyshift.com Monster Motorsports and they reccommend by passing the radiator trans cooler all together, as the radiator is hot...doing the work cooling the water. So my lines run directly from trans to the the dual port ,18" trans cooler. I used braided lines and run them alongside the fuel line in the frame and then across the front crossmember.

Hows come D side??? The over flow stainless puke can is on the P side so I just wanted it to look balanced.
