How about this 1970???

My best friends mother is selling her 1970 CST10. This truck has been in my life since we became friends in probably 1975. It has been in his family since it was new. His uncle bought it new, then it went to his grandpa and when he passed it went to his mom. Growing up, I have spent many of hours riding in the bed of this truck. I was born in 1972 so I pretty much know the entire history of it. The back glass is broken but she has a new one for it. The camper shell has only been off a few times in its long history. Here are some pics of it now and I am paying $400 for it. Do you think this is a decent opportunity?

Crap... I put this in the wrong place. It needs to be in the trucks not the suburbans forum, Sorry...

Yes it runs. Just needs a starter.

Welcome to the board. I would have to say that you are crazy if you don't buy it. A whole truck that looks solid for that price that is awesome.

Always good to hear about one getting saved! Looks like you have a 72 door on the passenger side, may have had some repairs performed at some point in its history.

That is a great score at $400. Wheel off the front, shell off of the back and 4 hubcaps and you will be turning heads.

Re: How about this 1970???

May I ask how you can tell it has a '72 passenger side door?

Thanks for the comments. I have committed to buying it, now I just need to go and pick it up. It is an hour from my home so maybe I will have it in a week or so.

Re: How about this 1970???

If you look on the door, on the inside, over the door panel, but under the vent window, you'll see a small indentation, with a screw in it.
That is a 1972 only door.

Re: How about this 1970???

Hey Tony-

You're truck has EXACTLY the same interior, color, pattern, everything as my 1971 C/20. I love it! I've had my truck only 10 years, gave 2Gs for it and my wife and I are already way sentimental over it. So I can't see how you could do anything OTHER than buying it. You MUST buy that truck.

Still, there's nothing quite like having a spare tire mounted to the grill to make it look like grandpaw's truck. lol

Re: How about this 1970???

Yep you'd be nuts to pass on that. Congrats on the major score. The seat looks like its in great shape also. If the camper cover has only been off of it a couple of times then the bed floor is probably arrow straight just like mine.

Re: How about this 1970???

It is starting to sound like I have finally got lucky with a great find. I can't wait to get it home. Maybe Saturday if everything goes good this week. Someone here at work was looking at the pictures and brought up that it has ram horn manifolds and there may be a good chance that it has some high compression heads on it. Won't know until I get it home, but things keep sounding better all the time.

I spoke with my friend this morning and him or I can't remember anything happening to it for there to be a different door on the passenger side. We are going to ask his mom about it. Would there have been any reason to change the door to get the step that is on the passenger side? He took a quick look in the bed and says he doesn't think there is any rust in it. He thinks maybe the rocker panels may need replaced and that maybe the rear cab mounts are bad. There may be a little work needed, but it sounds like I am still getting a steal. I will post more pics and updates when I get it home.
