Stripped!!!!!

I stripped a couple of threads on the inner plate that the door mounts to. Does any place sell these or if someone has an easier solution to fix them, I would appreciate it.

Hey I did the same thing on my passanger side, I cut the whole part out of my donor cab and just welded it in. Cut above and below the holes like about 1" and and the coner on the sides. This worked out great. I am sure you know this but the part that the bolts go into are held up by thin pieces of metal tacked on the inside. I also just measured from the bottom hole on the top to the top hole on the bottem and used that as a reference to weld it back in. If you got anymore questions let me know, I suck at explaining with out pics.

If you could post a picture of just mostly the whole door pillar I could kind of show what I did and where I cut.

Is the metal thick enough to repair with a heli-coil?

How about tapping it out and going one size bigger on the bolt?

You could drill/cut a whole large enough to slide a nut through and weld it. Then you've got lots of threads.

I dont think a bigger bolt will work unless you open up the hole in the hinge enough. I do think that a heli coil will do the trick. Just my 2 cents

There is a (cage nut) retainer spot welded to the inside of the pillar. Locate these spot welds and remove the retainer. You can make the nut plate from flat mild steel stock of appropriate thickness, if you have a tap and die set. Simply re-weld the retainer in place. Definitely within your abilities Rod if your doing all the tinsmithing on your truck...

drill out the stripped threads and weld a nut in there since it's easy to access right now with a welder. then use a longer bolt. i used nuts on the inside of my door where 2 holes were stripped.
