Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
Figured I'd put on here first before the truck trader. That trans is very heavy duty, and I mean heavy!

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
Nightrider.... Does That Trans Have The Provision For A P.t.o. ? I Would Love To Have A 6 Speed In My 69 Tow Truck. Also Shipping To 42501 Somerset Ky. Are Chevy Bellhousings Available For That Tran.s Or Do I Have To Go The Adapter Plate Rought?? I'm Very Very Interested. John

I have no idea about any of your questions. I guess you would have to seek them outon a dodge diesel forum.NOt sure the weight, who do you recommend I check with for shipping?

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
Ok... I'll See If I Can Find The Answers To The Bellhousing & Pto Issue. Does It Have A Removable Bellhousing?? (bolted To The Tranny) I'm Assuming It Is A Nv5600?? Is This Correct?? Last Summer I Helped A Buddy Of Mine Put An Auto-trans. In His Dodge 1 Ton With A Cummings In It. He Bought A Jasper Tranny, & It Was $65 To Ship It By Ups From Jasper Ind. To Carson City Nv. Undoubtably It Is More Now, But You Are About 1/2 The Distance. Do You Have The Clutch Disc & Pressure Plate?? (i'll Need Em For A Core) . Is This A nv5600?? & How Much Does It Weigh?? Thanks John

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
NIGHTRIDER.... WELL ADVANCE ADAPTERS DOES NOT MAKE ANY ADAPTERS TO FIT A NV5600 TO A CHEVY MOTOR. IT SEEMS THE BELLHOUSING IS PART OF THE CASE. IT DOES HAVE A PTO PROVISION THOUGH. THEY SAID I'LL HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A NV4500 (5 SPEED) OR A OVERDRIVE UNIT FOR MY OLD 4 SPEED. I CALLED SEVERAL TRANNY GURUS & IT'S ABOUT $2400 TO REBUILD ONE. I WISH WE COULD DO SOME BUSINESS WITH IT , BUT I'LL HAVE TO PASS.
HERE ARE THE SPECS. ON IT. NV5600 6 Speed Specifications: Case:......Cast Iron Bellhousing:......Aluminum Alloy Torque Rating:......550 lb.-ft. Gross Vehicle Weight:......16,000 lbs. Gross Combined Weight:......26,000 lbs. Transmission Weight:......360 lbs. First Gear Ratio:......5.63-1 Second Gear Ratio:......3.38-1 Third Gear Ratio:......2.04-1 Fourth Gear Ratio:......1.39-1 Fifth Gear Ratio:......1.00-1 Sixth Gear Ratio: .073-1......(Overdrive) Reverse Gear Ratio:......5.63-1 Oil Capacity:......9.5 pints Oil Capacity with optional filter:..10 pints Recommended Lubricant:.....Texaco STF Input Shaft:..10 Spline, either 1.25" or 1.375" THANKS ANYWAY...... JOHN

sorry it won't work for you. it would be best for someone who already has one and needs a spare.

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
I found this article about companies making a new front cover/bellhousing for the nv5600. I couldn't find out prices or anything, but here is the article.

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
I wish we were all closer. I have {well my brother does} a rebuilt NV4500 {GM} with zero miles we are putting in his 67' K20 Cummins. We could trade and John could have a NV4500 and my brother could have the NV5600. Oh well,we have already spend enough $$$$ for the bellhousing to mate the GM NV4500 to the Cummins.

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
An Nv4500 Would Be Great For Me. Especially A Rebuilt One. Lets Do It..... I'll Play. I Would Like Either A Nv4500 (with A Chevy B/p Bell Housing) Or A Gear Vendors Overdrive. John

Re: FS-6 spd trans, turbo,driveshaft...
Is it for a 4x4 or a 4x2? I really wanted a ZF 6 spd for mine, but the price on this NV is tempting.............Just need a 4x2 version.
