Re: What did you get done?

A bit late ...

I didn't touch the truck, but I did some work on a 2000 Grand Am that's having a 'grinding' noise coming from inside the engine. Check the rocker arms and push rods and turned out to be ok. It might be a lifter, the cam shaft or ???

Took a 30 mile bicycle ride up through the foothills. On one of the climbs back, I came across a buck and 2 does. Since I was climbling in low gear, I was going slow enough not to frightened one of the does grazing on the shoulder of the road. I ended up getting within 6 feet of it. Also, came across a snake on the trail. I frightened it as I rode by it...

I also spent some time at a local rod show. Then, ended the weekend at NewWestFest.

Re: What did you get done?

Today I pressure washed the underside of the truck, paying special attention to the front suspension.

I took my wheels off and repolished them.

I added some anti-squeek stuff to the front brakes.

I changed the oil and lubed the chasis.

I painted the front suspension and undercarriage using rattle cans just as a means of making it look nicer and to cover the surface rust which has started forming on the A-arms and springs.

All in all, a productive day. Now I need to finish polishing two of my wheels, take it for a test run to make sure I took care of teh squeeky brakes, and finally wash it later tonite (like at 2am when I get off from work...)

What did you get done?

I was off this weekend so I should have done a few things out in the garage. That was my intentions, but it never happened. Saturday I went to watch my daughters high school volleyball team play in a tournament. They are still trying to come together as a team so they didn't finish to well. Hopefully the talent they have will come together soon.

Today I checked out a new Church for the second time. My old church closed (long story) so I need to find a new one. This one pretty good and it's growing like wildfire.

This week I did do something truck related. I bought an 06 Silverado crew cab. I should have it home in the next few days.

Re: What did you get done?

Not much at all. My back hurt all weekend, so I tried to take it easy. I mostly ran errands and spent time with my wife's family. I had part of my spine and the surrounding muscle removed several years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer (age 24), and I did something to make it angry this week, but I don't know what. Ouch.

Re: What did you get done?

Worked like usual but not on the truck or blazer. This past week I was able to get the engine on the blazer back together and test out the timing gear. It still acted like it was off so I did the kleenex in the #1 cylinder and brought it up to TDC. I then checked to see how far off it was at the HEI. It was way off! So I pulled the distributor and reset it the way it needed to be. I went back to cranking and got much better timing but something either came loose or popped a fuse since it wouldn't crank or anything. I think I have got a bad connection at the starter. I'll have to check it out. Once it gets started and I fix the brake leak and bleed them it's off to get inspected.

Re: What did you get done?

I finally did stuff to the 80!! Installed a Re-Worked front drive shaft - I'm a 4x4 again. (only been about 12 months). Cut a pattern for a dash pad fabric covering I'm gonna do. Cleaned out the inside and washed it (that's been about 18 months!) Lubed everything with a zerk. Swapped my heater hoses. Painted some stuff underneath. Warmed up and test drove the Project 73 Blazer and the 79 parts truck.

Then, got the kids ready for HIGH SCHOOL!!

Re: What did you get done?

Sandblasted and primed my core support. I had to re-weld the center section from the PO cutting it to install a cam. We then painted it on one side. Hopefully this week I'll get the other side painted. Sorry the pics are from my sell phone. I'll take some better ones this week on my camera!

Re: What did you get done?

I went to the lake/camping with the family.. kiddo hadnt been camping before, had intended to take her fishing but where we were swimming wasnt good for fishing so will do that some other time.. she still had a blast.. we went to Sulphur springs in south central/eastern Oklahoma. Was nice to get away but wasnt long enough. Daughter had fun seeing the wild animals that came into our camp, we had racoons (even had a baby and had one that jumped up on the bench with my father-in-law), armadillos, and even had a bat fly around camp for a bit. We also had a swarm of bees in our camp, but nobody got stung.. The cold springs were nice and close to camp and there was a lake close by that was a bit warmer and better place to swim. I needed this as every night after work and this next weekend I will be pulling the engine from the 82 and getting it ready to travel to CO..

Re: What did you get done?

Tonite I washed the truck again and started waxing it with Zymol. Some good stuff but it takes a little getting used to. you have to lay it on real thin...

Only got the hood and cowl done. It's getting late and I'm tired. Got school in the morning and taking a trip to the stereo shop to plan out my new stereo system again and work with the guys in more detail with everything.

Re: What did you get done?

The wife and I had to go to Arkansas to move my mother-in-law back to Knoxville. She's getting divorced and moved back closer to her family. She's only an hour away instead of 8 now
I did drive the 86 out though. I also saw a really sweet 81-87 driving between Harrisburg and Jonesboro. It looked like it was red and white custom two-tone, lowered, and sounded pretty mean when we passed.

Re: What did you get done?

I've been slowly trying to progress finishing out my shop. When we moved in it was nothing more than a 22X24 garage in the back yard with no attic (only rafters) and just studded walls... I've been wiring the whole thing up and hanging insulation and 7/16" OSB on the walls so that I can keep it a normal tempurature in there...

Next I've got to figure out ventalation for the makeshift paint booth that I'm setting up in there so I can start painting in the shop, not the basement

The only thing truck related was taking some snapshots of my brother's new Duramax, GOD I want one of those suckers! He bought it bone stock with 14 miles on it, this is what it looks like about 3 weeks later. Front is lifted to match the back, larger tires (totals up to 3" of lift all around), billet grille and bowtie, tinted front windows to match the backs, and totally debadged and de-trimmed.
