Can this be done.
I have an old 1967 C-30 truck that needs everything. It is complete but wore out. I have 3 mid seventies 1 tons with good front ends under them. Can I do like the C-10 guys and swap a late model front cross member with a power steering box under it. Has anyone done it and what kind of trouble did you have. I know it would be a lot easier to just build the later models but I just can't take this old girl apart. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It should be pretty much a bolt in, but you will have to "oblong" a couple bolt holes. The crossmembers are said to be the same , from 10-30 series. Just be sure to use ALL the steering linkage from the later truck. best of luck, L

Re: Can this be done.
I have not done this swap on the one tons but.... the one tons and 3/4 tons actually share most of the suspension components in the front end. That would leave be to believe that it will be the same to swap as a 1/2 ton.

Re: Can this be done.
Thanks guys. I haven't messed with any 1 tons or 4wd stuff in a long time. Let the destruction begin.

Ron - If your frame is a 67 1T you will probably have to dimple it to fit a PS box. Heat and a BFH will do the job. I have yet to see a 67 frame (1/2, 3/4 or 1) that had a dimple to fit the PS box.
