converter questions
my question is i'm adding true dual exhaust to my 85 chevy 4x4 with headers,is there a risk involved in installing 2 cats with dual fuel tanks? heat from them is tremendous,or is there a recommended placement of the converters? help!

You also shouldn't notice any temp differences downstream with the converters, as it's all pretty much free flow back there, your tempurature backup will be at the converters only.

My truck has dual cats. I have had the truck 5.5 years with no explosions yet. They looked old when I got it, so I assume they have been on there a while.
I have been told it is illegal to use dual cats on a vehicle that came with one because of problems with lack of proper heat shielding. I don't know if it is true, but you might check into it if you live somewhere with strict inspections. Slonaker |
