305 V6 power steering

I acquired a 67 GMC pickup with a 305 V6 which is quite rare here in Canada. Problem is I can't handle the manual
steering. Any suggestions as to where to get everything I need to install
power? I have never seen a balancer single pulley like these trucks have.
Thanks

Re: 305 V6 power steering

V-6's are rare in Canada, the Canadian GMC's had Chevy engines. On to your question: A '67 GMC with the V-6 uses the linkage type power steering like all the other '67 G.M. pickups. There have been many threads here about changing over to the integral type power steering as used on the later trucks, so I won't get into all of that. The problem for you will be trying to find the rare pump bracket for the V-6 (the pump itself is the same as a 230 or 292 straight 6) and the pulleys. The proper pump bracket mounts the pump low on the driver's side. Don't try to use the more common heavy duty truck pump bracket that mounts the pump over the left valve cover. There isn't enough clearance under the hood for it. As for pulleys, You need the 2 groove crank and water pump pulleys. Most of the GMC V-6's actually don't have a vibration damper, the crank pulley just bolts onto the solid crank hub. You might try asking these guys for leads on those parts:
