Time To Rebuild

I was going to replace my valve cover gaskets today to stop the oil leak. Well I got them off and decided to take my intake off and have it bead blasted. Well i got that off and looked under it and dug out this junk from the corner that really kind of worried me. I then decided to just rebuild the whole thing. Funny how a small project can turn into something big. I finally got the casting number for my heads and block. looks like the PO got a 70-76 block and put on a set of 67-68 291 double humps. My question is what sould I do to the heads to give a little more power while I got them off? Also any more performance advice would be appreciated. I know some will say go with a set of Vortecs but I am having to round up the money myself. The wife is not to happy when I tell her I have to put more money into my truck.

Re: Time To Rebuild

Best thing is to have a 3 angle valve job done on the seats. These are good street heads. (GM used them on the 302cid and other motors up to 350hp)
