What Do You "Really Wheel"
We've got a 4x4 post but nothing dedicated to "wheeling" per say.
Being this is the 4x4 section, how about showing off the trucks that "really" get used off road. YOUR truck, not some mag photo shoot but our own trucks doing their thang. All years/makes/models welcome, post up the pics with some specs of your trucks. Last edited by vtblazer; 10-17-2006 at 06:18 AM. |

Re: What Do You "Really Wheel"
My ride of choice is a 71 K5.
Motivation: 350/th-400/doubler-triple sticks/front Dana 60 HP spooled w/5:13's and 4340 axle shafts - rear 14bolt w/detroit and 39.5 TSL's Goodies: Full cage/9K-winch/internal bead locks/rock sliders/4whl disc brakes/f&r drive lines from High Angle/14" travel shocks/Alcan springs/hydro assist steering/high steer kit/on board air/trimmed sheet metal. Couple creature comforts: Corbeau seats/4-point harness/tilt column/center console/heat (that's it) Last edited by vtblazer; 10-17-2006 at 06:20 AM. |

Re: What Do You "Really Wheel"
I wish there were places to wheel around here. Definately nothing public within 75 miles or so. Quite a haul for me and this ain't no interstate queen. Honestly i'm scared to break something that far from home.

Re: What Do You "Really Wheel"
This is what I wheel. Havne't been in months, swapped out front ends and t-cases, have to put the t-case back in, lift it more cause the tires rub, and hopefully get the gears and lockers installed.

Re: What Do You "Really Wheel"
Been seen around here before, but here's the details:
75 K5, 350 (q-jet/headers), SM465, 205, D44/12b 3.73's, 35x12.50 Dunlops. Had it almost 4 years now, added the 4in RC front springs, echobit shackle flip in the rear, RC shocks all the way around. Added 2002 Silverado Buckets and other bits-n-pieces. Don't get to wheel it enough, but here's a pic after climbing to the top of Tincup pass here in Colorado... Here's one from the first run with the new tires and lift together in the snow: Plans are to upgrade to a 14 bolt FF in back, 4.10's or 4.56's, 8 lug d44 parts up front with matching gears.

Re: What Do You "Really Wheel"
Not a fullsize either, but a Chevy...
The thing is a little mountain goat with 4.10s and a locker in it.... I'm currently building another wheeler... putting a regular cab S10 body on the frame/drivetrain of a 1976 K5.
