the factory jacks left much to be desired..... if you gotta have one, go ask on the parts board.... otherwise, a small hydraulic floor jack would be a better choice.

A bottle jack doesn't take up much space and can be pretty useful.

I personally really like the factory jack... I even added one to my car trailers tool box. I have supplemented my OEM jack with a Hi-Lift in both my trucks as well. In the Jimmy mounted behind the seat, and in the truck mounted underneath the rail at the rear of the drivers side of the bed.

At Target you can get a gay lookin little bottle jack that does not weigh too much, will lift the truck high enough to do what needs to be done, (a 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive truck anyways) is 10 times more stable than a stocker, and comes in a little faggy plastic case.
I love mine. |

One problem with the bottle jacks is they usually don't get low enough when you need them most, especially if you're truck is lowered. Put an empty wheel on the front of your truck and set it on the ground. Then see how low of a jack you need. Ever try to find something for blocks so you can make a two step jack when you're stranded? It's not fun.
As for the factory jacks, I've change a lot of flats using them. Not the best by a long shot, but they will get the job done. Helps a lot to have a square of plywood to sit one on in the soft dirt.

The 73-ups have a jack that might work too. These can usually be found easier. I carry a small floor jack on the passenger side floor. It's right next to my 4 way lug wrench and fire extinquisher! Be prepared.
