70 chevy truck longhorn tire size

What size tire # replaced 9.50-16.5?

They are typically 31" tall (or slightly less), and 31x10.50-16.5 is the same -- though somewhat wider.

It looks like the closest in today's metric sizes would be a 245/75x16.5, or the 255/70x16.5, the later being what I would choose.

Again you have the 31x10.50 size which is close in height, but wider, another good choice.
