Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
I removed the trailer hitch receiver ...one of those square hole things. 4 nuts and bolts and two grinding areas...it is off now.
I am going to put on a hidden hitch and a flip up license place frame on it next...they are on the way from Early Classics. I also cleaned off my transfer case and surrounding mounting surfaces...removed about 25 (not a typo) pounds of oily, greasy transmission fluidy, transfer case fluidy sand and dirt...about 30 years worth. Also took off the spare tire and mounting thing with the associated hardware. I am going to the fix a flat and cell phone tire changing method. So...got about 150 more pounds off the truck. Mileage going up. Man this is fun.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
Bought a $10 door shell AND played with my new parts truck...named maggie for the "maggot fest" sticker in the back window...that sticker pretty much clinched the sale! Runs & drives fine and has 11/07 tags so I think I'll drive it for a while before taking it apart.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
This weekend....Saturday I went to work at 7am, me and everyone took our time so we had to stay late to meet the quota for the day, I didnt get out of there till 9:45 or so. Then I got home and cought the tail end of Headbangers Ball. Tenacious D was on so I quickly turned off my TV. Then my buddu Weebster came over around midnight to have me look at some engine he wants to throw in his Blazer. We ended up just driving around getting drunk. I got home about 3:30, and had some explaining to do to the girlfriend.
I slept in a bit and was 43 mins late to work....and no one said anything to me about it. I was slightly hung over and worked from 7:43-8:00. So thats what....28hrs in two days. Now Im setting here waiting for tomarrow night, I turned 21 on Nov. 7th and didnt have a chance to celibrate. So were all going out tomarrow. |

I broke my 3 speed Saginaw and happened to find a replacement T-5 all in 24 hours. Now the hard part is trying to install it inbetween the rainstorms.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
I had to work on my 82 2wd, and my 85 4x4 diesel Suburbans, but I did wish I could be working on my 67 'Burb tho.
Thursday night the t-case in my 4x4 blew apart. Somehow it got stuck in 4wd and the chain let loose and took out part of the case. So I figured I would fix the 82 and get it going. The starter bolts in the 82 broke so I figured it would be an easy fix....boy was I wrong about that. Getting the broken bolts out was easy, but getting the starter to work right has been a nightmare. I'm thinking the original starter got messed up or the wrong starter was used...I think the PO somehow made a starter for a manual tranny work on an engine with an automatic. Either way it wasn't working right when I got it all back together the 1st time and shimming it didn't help. I have a spare starter from when I converted my 4x4 to an SM-465 and I installed that...still nothing. My friend is storing is shorty 4x4 (with a diesel) at my place so I pulled the starter from it and on my way in to work I had the parts store test those two starters. Turns out, the starter from my friends truck is the only good one so Monday I will be installing that. After that I get to install the R&R (found another NP-208 on craigslist) the t-case on my 4x4 and install manual hubs and pray everything works.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
friday- got a set of prothane body mounts
saturday- went to a very very pathatic goodguys car show in pleasanton, it rained till about 9am and there was about a 50% empty swap lot and a lot of empty grass where cars should be. still managed to score good though, me: $45, 140lbs mag base, flex arm dial indicator, yes!! no more "by feel" r&p setups russel: $100 brand new errson roller rockers!! $40 for a '63 inner fenders, cowl corners, and core support. jason: $275 for a pair of 29x15.50x15" m/t sportsman dot drag tires on 15x14 dual pattern rims. $15 671 blower front cover. on the way home i stop by my favorite mud hole and jump started a kid enough to get him home, rescue #1 then the real fun started up, called some more buddies to see what they were up to and they wanted to go wheel a little and then hit the bar, hellsya! im in. leave my long truck at his house and we head out. 2hrs later were fully stuck and need to get a ride to get my truck, not a tug or offroad recovery just a ride to get my truck. call up a few people a every buddy is either out of town or not ansewering, except 1 buddy, he is to busy bowling and cant come get us, and i quote, "you guys should call some one else", even though we just put a roll cage, lift, tire, and a whole ass load of work on his 74 bronco[ford people]. found a ride, got my truck, got him out, went to the bar. loe and behold who is there, the bowling ford owner with an empty glass, waiting for a pitcher. got drunk and went home. rescue #2 sunday, was going to install body mounts, got a call, 4wheeling at 12noon, show up!. ok so i try to fix my rear winch incase of shtf and someone needs out. got it going, 2 buddies show up to my house and we roll out. get up there the mud is very clingy and great, 2 other vehicles and its on! play around for 2hrs and get ready togo and once again the ford guy rolls in , late, so we headed out assuming they wernt staying. .5hr later my cell rang and i randomly ignored it, didnt really care i was trying to get my body mounts done, 2 ignored calls later i find out that ford guy is now stuck in the exact same way we were on saturday night, he not more than 18 hrs told us to piss off, we introduce him to our freind karma, she's kind of a *****. im still a sucker and went to go get him. his brakes went weak and lost control going down a hill and gently plowed some bushes, he and the ford are fine. pull him out and chained up to be his brakes and got him down the hill. rescue #3 maybe tommorrow i can get my mounts on? |

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
saterday i got sick of looking at the surface rust on the hood and front fenders, so i sanded them down, used the good old hammer and dolly to smooth out some minor dings, sunday i worked on getting the old dash cover out (the outermost bolts are a pain in the neck to get off) got a few more little dings out and got 3 cans of gray primer and paintd the hood, and fenders.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
On saturday I refitted the front fender, cowl and hood, headlight, front bumper and wipers, put two gallons of fresh gas in the tank and drove her home now the rocker repair is finished. She seems to pick yup her feet much better now I've changed the back half of the exhausts. The previous owner had used a reducer after the box to downsize the tailpipes and I've gone back up to 3" pipes, sounds much better too!
I'm now hatching my plans for winter work once I've got my temporary stell framed tarp garage up, fit the edelbrock performer EPS manifold and HEI that are cluttering up the garage and tune the engine up, fit the new carpets, find and fit a brake booster, sort out the bed wood, remove the roll bar. Oh and I've got an8" sub and a couple of amps to fit under the seat.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
Could have been finishing the swap of my tired 350 to my fresh and new 468, but the wife made me go to Dallas to see her new nephew Oh, well. It was her birthday, so I guess I saw it coming anyway...
Not to worry, though. The Rat should be nestled in it's new home by this weekend. J

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
I sanded sheetrock in my garage all day Saturday, getting ready to paint the ceiling & walls. The wife and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary on Sunday. I plan on getting back on the '71 sometime in December. Hope to spray it by Spring. Life is good!

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
I got up Friday morning and finished hanging sheetrock in the bedroom and got the walls all taped and mudded.
Saturday morning I got up and took my trash for a ride in the countryside (didn't kow the dump took the whole weekend off) so i came home and sanded the room. Sunday I primed all the finished walls. Drywalling blows.

Went to Tuscaloosa, AL on Friday and picked up a '73 2wd Blazer, left at 10am and got back at 11pm. Worked all day Saturday. Sunday I got in the garage and did some more cleaning/painting on the LT1 getting it ready to slide in between the frame rails on the '70.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
Took apart a very nice set of 71 doors (the doors had major damage to them, but the guts/glass were all good). Bought them a couple of weeks ago for $10 at the Chickasha, OK swap meet. Custom doors with the Soft ray glass and chrome trim...great door panels, handles and armrests. A shame that they were so banged up. Used the driver side window roll-up to replace the worn out one in my 1969. Didn't do much else...spent time w/kids and wife. Kind of tried to lay out some plans for project completion, but as the weather cools here in OK, my zeal and vigor for spending time out in the barn wanes.

Re: What did everyone get done this weekend?
Went and pulled the rear drums on the Suburban to assess the damage. Shoes are almost new, and the wheel cylinder parts were still good so I pulled 'em and cleaned 'em out. I'm gonna see if they'll work, but I should've just bought rebuild kits and did that. There sure was a lot of mud on the shoes and around the inside, guess they liked taking it through mud holes. I'm still stumped on removing the front drums, I'll figure it out this next weekend and I'll rebuild all four cylinders. As for the truck all I have to do is weld the gooseneck hitch plate on the frame, that's about it there.
