Unhappy Need help bolting motor to tranny!

Well, I got my new motor in but can't get the damn thing to snug up to the tranny bellhousing. It's a regular ole 350 and TH350. I think I put the motor mounts back in just like they were but there's about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in b/t. If I try and tighten the bolts, I can no longer turn the flywheel. The flywheel bolted to the TC just fine. Anyone got pics of their SBC motor mounts (old style)? I only hand tightened my mounts until everything's adjusted. This and my PS bracket are all I really lack. Help?

I have better luck putting the TC in the bell housing first, then snug up the bolts on the bell housing. Once that is done I bolt the TC to the flywheel.

I agree with 72chevycheyenne, chances are that the converter is not seated in the pump. You need to separte the eng & trans to scope the trouble. You should be able to "feel" the converter drop in at 3 places when installing it on the trans. You have to turn the verter while installing , to insure that it is all the way in........failure to do this will cause damage to the pump, converter & trans. good luck.....longhorn

I never pulled the TC from the trans. That's why I am confused. I guess the TC was probably unseated when I pulled the motor, huh? Thanks, guys.

Thanks, fellas. The TC wasn't fully seated but it is now! I needed to pull it anyway as my PS bracket had to be bolted to my motor mount and it wouldn't line up with it in.

Thanks again!

Hope you didn't FUBAR the tranny pump. Since you didn't start the engine or bear down on the bellhousing bolts, your probably OK.
