Beater Calendar

Here's my first entry. I only have one picture since I did not see the value in wasting any more film and paper on my pride and joy. I could use that $0.42 to improve any part on this beauty...LOL!

Re: Beater Calender

EDIT: I think Shane's truck looks like the best one! A flatbed makes it look better!

The old farm truck, and the only one of it's kind around here. A flatbed might replace the fleet bed if I ever get the time to swap 'em.

Robert, is that the optional "a/c cab door option" that is available in 2007 after these trucks rusting for 34 years!! Rust adds character I think.

Re: Beater Calender

This is the beater I started with. It was purchased on ebay a couple years ago for $405. Although it looks like a real pile, it has no rust, just surface rust. It lived its whole life in Northern Cal as a ranch truck. It was a factory black truck, and is in the process going back to its original state, (other than the buick 455/200 4r combo). The only thing that isn't original, is the floor mounted indy shifter, was a column shift 3sp. I kept the original engine and tranny, (why I dont know, doesn't seem to make a difference in these trucks whether there # matching) Its being put back together with a 72 chevy grille. Its in pieces right now and in the final stages of resto, close to being put back together. Just waiting for paint.
I must admit, I love the obvious rock thrown through the window picture

BTW, Shanes truck is a cool looking beater, if you can call it that!!

Hey Jay_Shy; is that original paint on that stepside? I've never seen a factory 2 tone stepper before, that actually looks great, if in fact it is factory....

Re: Beater Calender

67chevyredneck - it is far from original paint. If you look closer the two rear fenders don't match. Also the area around the gas filler as well as around the glovebox hinge is orange. I think the original color was "signal flare red".

Over is is not all that bad. The worse part is the cab corners, rockers and cab supports. There is alot of pin hole rust spots in the bed and the floor was replaced by PO with diamond plate.

So says the guy with no picture posted.

BTW: It ain't flat paint & it ain't fake ... just dull acrylic enamel thanks to long hot Alabama days in a salvage yard.

P.S. Thanks for the kind words guys.
