427 cid ?
I mitgh be able to get my hans on a C50 truck with a 427 CID for $500, maybe less. Is that a good engine choice for a 1/2 ton? Will it bolt to a th350? Can you buy aftermarket parts like headers, intake ,carb, cam that sort of stuff?

The 427 in that truck is an industrial/heavy truck engine. It is about the same as a big block chevy except for a taller deck, different rods and pistons which can be swapped to regular big block pistons with longer aftermarket rods. The distributor is different as s the intake. All the parts are avaialable but they are more expensive. Thick walls in the cylinders and they make for good race motors.

Mucho torque!!! You would have to rebuild if you want top end though. $$$. Should bolt right in, I would do it.

Only one way to find out, if it soesnt then you can have it rebuilt to withstand. One way or another it will have to be rebuilt, right?
