1970 Bench seat cloth option's ?

I just returned from the upholstery shop after dropping it off last month.

I was looking to fix a tear and replace the cloth inserts on my bench seat. But they tell me the original vinyl is too dried out for repair and they can not locate the cloth material.

I’ve been looking around for a new seat cover option but having a real hard time locating a bench with the option #607 is blue cust cloth trim.

The original seat has cloth inserts in the divers and passengers side. I’m stuck making the choice of either just the plan all blue vinyl bench or go with the 71 houndstooth inserted seat option.

Does anybody know where I could order the original seat cover with the cloth option?

I am working on bringing this truck back to completely original for a driver & shows.

Thanks for any help or info.

Cheers
Chad

Try PMing PICKMUP. He is a board vendor and sells high quality seat covers in original patterns and materials.

Pretty sure that the Custom Cloth you have a picture of is a 1971/1972 option and not available in 1970 as CARS is stating. Ask for a sample from CARS before forking over the $319.00.

I liked the custom cloth seat the best in looks and comfort.

Re: 1970 Bench seat cloth option's ?

The original cloth material is available from SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, OR 503-263-3535. If you are doing a stock resto it is worth it.

Once the vinyl has been sewn it cannot be re-sewn in the same spot or it will quickly tear. Think about the little holes in the paper that make it so you can tear it. If you double up the holes by sewing again, along the same line, it will weaken beyond usefullness.

Re: 1970 Bench seat cloth option's ?

The material cars.com has is correct, I ordered a sample of it and it matches the original material on the seat. My truck has the same pattern except it's the dark metallic green vinyl and dark green cloth.

Re: 1970 Bench seat cloth option's ?

Chad, glad to hear that CARS is able to make a cover for you. I hope you will be as impressed as I was with the one they did for me. If you're a truck geek like me you'll just sit and stare at it for a while when it shows up!

Just for your info, the upholstery shop I used charged me about $250 to rebuild my seat (new foam, fix adjuster, etc.) and install the cover.

Re: 1970 Bench seat cloth option's ?

Does anyone know if the seat cover that CARS makes has the same scroll pattern in it that the custom deluxe vinyl seat had?
