Need power steering hose routing
Can someone tell me or post a pic of how the power steering hoses are supposed to be routed for a 68 1/2 ton v8? I going to change out the steering gear in a few weeks and replace the hoses.
Thanks

Yeah, if you can follow it!!
Unfortunately found numerous instances in the assembly manual where the drawings are not exactly clear...or worse, bassackwards! I wired mine up in about the same way as rage'nrat638's pictures, and I really hope it works!! |

Re: Need power steering hose routing
Skokie, didn't the 67 & 68 use a slave cylinder power assist steering? That is what that diagram is of. That 69 posted is an integrated sector. What setup does your 68 have?

Re: Need power steering hose routing
Skokie Ragenrat's pic is of the 69 and up setup like mine. If you have the 69 up setup then there's nothing to it. If you are going for the original 67-68 slave cyl assist setup the diagrams you posted are correct for it. Have you tried checking LMC book for pics and diagrams? I may be wrong for the yrs. I'm pretty sure the 67 was a slave cyl assist but not sure on the 68. You'd need to consult a parts listing or someone with the correct setup will chime in here and bail us out.

Re: Need power steering hose routing
Boog 69 setup is what I am going to keep. I will be replacing the steering gear box since it is leaking from the top.
Thanks

Re: Need power steering hose routing
Great. The slave cylinder setups were always plagued with leaks and shuttering and such. You'll be much happier with the 69 up.
