what did you get done this weekend?
havent seen a update thread for us lately, i assume everybody has been working too hard to post up?
i wired in the the internal reg alt, wired in the hei, re-routed the main wires to move the alt, reloaded the orange doors and mounted them up, tuned the carb a little, laid a little rubber down. the truck is now running 100% on its own, no jump trigger and toggle switch from the battery, the key starts and stops it, all lights work, all the dash works, the seat stilll needs a new d-side bracket but no biggie. he it is, in all its funky orange and 1 blue fender glory. i wish i knew just how many hand have touched this truck in its life but it is finaly up and drive able again. |

GGGGGRRRRRRR. I've been off since the 19th of Dec. and been in the shop twice, neither time to do any work.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
Rebuilt my 350, tossed a new cam, hi-flo oilpump, worked the heads a little, roller rockers, and ported in the intake.
Still trying to decide if I want to the paint the motor or not, considering i'm leaving the factory paint on the truck. Kinda like a new-old type of thing, with the new wheels and old paint. I do have 4 cans of gloss black waiting.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
NOTHING!! Today I swore I would clean up the mess in front of the garage, but my buddy called me and asked me to research value of some parts. I searched for half an hour, then passed out on the lazy boy (its my computer chair) and slept for 5 hours. X(

I went and looked at a '72 a guy said I could have. No motor or trans but everything else seems to be there. I took the camera but by the time the wife & I got there it was too dark to get any pics. I think I will go get it Wednesday or Thursday so I'll post an update in a new thread then. LockDoc

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
I pulled the leaky air valve and resealed it after I replaced the busted nipple the first time. So far I am 3 for 4 on air ride leaks.
I also got my proportioning valve installed, but the lines are all wrong and I need to bleed the system. |

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
fixed my glove box door so that it opens when you push the button
figured out what was wrong with my heater controls - 3 rivets are broke installed a headlight buzzer re-hung my driver side door so that you can close it w/o slamming it - still needs more tweaking pulled the bed off to make my air bag install easier and so i can clean up the frame and paint it. |

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
I installed a wood bed (3/4" plywood anyway), got a new steering wheel, and fixed a major rear suspension issue, and went for my first real freeway drive!

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
Pulled the motor out of my son's truck. Found too much damage, so I'm sending him back to school with MY TRUCK!, while I swap in another motor into his.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
Put my new engine stand together. Installed a new battery and checked the fluids in the truck to go help my brother move some furniture out of storage. Its great to have a LWB and only have to make one trip. I haven't driven it in a while so it was good to get it out running on the road.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
Prepped my new tailgate, including shaving the outside handle. I have at least 20 hours into that handle shave between pre-fitting the new inside handle and getting the body work done on the outside. And now that I have the epoxy on it, I can see some stuff I still need to massage. But no worries, its all a learning process...

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
I completely replaced, cleaned and painted everything that moved in the front suspension. The control arm bushings were shot I found out when I pulled them. I have only driven it around the block so I don't know how bad it was or will have a comparison from the old to the new components. I'm assuming it will drive very well as I received a large box of new Moog parts that came with the truck including a new power steering box and front sway bar that was bought but never installed (SCORE!). This was a total PITA and I'm happy I won't have to do it again as long as I own this truck!!!

Re: what did you get done this weekend?
As long as these things have proven to last I think you should think twice about saying that! 30 years from now you might be changing them all over again.
